txspike, H9 or H11 in an HID application won't matter. The HIDs have no filiment and will be the same brightness. The H9 and H11 IS important for halogen bulbs because there is a different filiment in each. Also, and this should apply to both halogen and HID, the tabs on the bulb may be slightly different so that you can't install the wrong bulb in the wrong socket housing.

Well, major problems with the HID install. According to the mechanic that came over to do the installation, the same piece - the power supply that connects to the battery - was missing from both kits. On the DDM website they have a picture that shows the wiring and how everything fits together and part C just isn't there. Here's the picture from DDM:

Now, here's the picture of one of my kits:

The piece just isn't there. So, either we're not understanding something properly here or I got incomplete kits.

Did you guys get part C in your kits? If not, what did you do?

nope nothing hooks to the battery....unless you bought part c which is the relay harness..which you dont need. you have them hooked up correct in the pics, see the blk & red wired plugs that come out oh the boot with the hid bulb? that connect to the plug the origanally plugged into the oem lights remember the lows will have to switch the wires. each unit is independant from the others so the 2 single plugs out of the ignitors hook up to the 2 single plugs coming out of the other side of the rubber boots

Thanks for the tips Scott. Hey, I'm not seeing any PM's. Even sent myself one and nothing pops up on here saying I have a message and can't find any links to click on to see PMs ?!? So, if you sent me something on PM, I didn't get it. You can email me at intrepid.dust@gmail.com

Anyway, I'm going to tell that guy what you said about plugging into the original OEM socket for the lights. Hopefully he can get back over here and we can get it fixed. Right now though the bike's been put back together. He was convinced that not everything was there so he reassembled everything.

you only need to remove the ram air covers and the wind screen to do this job. you could do this job yourself it really simple to do

Unfortunately, no. The guy that was working on it hasn't gotten back in touch with me. I've already paid him for the time he spent working on it on Saturday. When he told me that without that piece it couldn't be installed, I didn't figure it would be fair for me not to pay him since he did spend the time taking it apart. Now, as it turns out, he just didn't know how to get the job done, and I'm out the money I've already spent. I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he'll do the right thing but. But, as it stands right now, I've got close to $200 worth of HID just sitting there uninstalled and another $60 of meaningless disassembly/reassembly fees...

txspike, you have everything you need for the install. Take the plug off of your stock bulb and plug it into the 2 wire connector coming from the ballast. Now, take the 2 wires coming from the smaller box with your kit and plug that into your new HID bulb. Clip that rubber bushing thing off of the HID bulb wires and also the short wire with the other end of the 2 wire connector.

Hey TXSPIKE-HERE YA GO- -also,see that plug saying "to Factory connector"?-that's the one that gives people trouble sometimes. You can take that plastic plug off, keep the leads on the end of the wires-and insert directly into the factory BLUE or GREEN connector(whichever you're installing)and then SILICONE the connector with leads in it after making sure she's coming on each time you fire them up.YOU DO NOT CUT ANY WIRES OFF!!!!Also, you MAY have a problem with turning the bulb socket itself into the metal lens socket. If so,just snip off a tiny bit of the LONG tab on the bulb ears.I know ONE SET of the lens metal sockets are designed slightly differently for the STOCK H9,or H11 bulb(as mentioned above)so they don't get mixed up for high or low bulbs installation. But all the tabs on the DDM's are THE SAME DESIGN.Meaning it will turn and fit for ONE set of lens sockets, but NOT the other.I used ALL 55w H11 bulbs on mine.6,000K.............not sure what Redtrace was talking about with "cutting the short wire off"-My wires all fit into something-there wasn't any "short wire" that I recall?

blue i think red was talking bout cutting off the boot and removing that ext wire. which is ok if your mounting close enough to plug directly into the ballast. i guess you just need to decide where you will be mounting the ballasts and how much wire you will need before removing that peice of harness imo

Well-yeah,I can see if ya don't need that long extension coming out there-I did.But why would you cut it?It disconnects right there nice and tidy like.Yeah-you're right about that.Didn't think of NOT using that extension.

blue, scott is correct. I meant to remove the extension wire. I did not need it as I mounted mine to the turn signal bracket on each side. The low beam wire is long enough to reach with no problem.

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their help.

I am happy to report that I was FINALLY able to get my HID's installed and working this evening by a guy here in the area. Everybody's advice was spot-on and the key to getting everything working properly was to reverse the polarity on every bulb (both hi beams and low beams).

And damn, these things are BRIGHT! But having them made me realize that I really do need the LED's that someone earlier in the thread suggested. Next to the HID, the stock running lights look really yellow and pale....

Heed my word about the running lights. They are NOT #194 bulbs in there. Take them out of the holder and you will find the correct number printed on the base of the bulb. They are a newer part number that Kawasaki is using. You will have to hunt around on the internet to find them. Also, the directionals are a different type as well, not the normal 1156 or 1157 type that used to be used for years.
You can use the 194's but you have to enlarge the socket, and run the risk of cracking the socket holder.
If you crack the socket holder, it's not such a big deal because they detach from the hardness.

I think that they maybe close in size but the ones I used are PN WLED-NWLX from http://www.superbrightleds.com/.
Also, I did find the correct part number on the web to the OEM ones that were in my bike, but superbrightleds didn't offer that number. I can't recall the actual part number, but they are printed on the base of the bulb.

I just installed my HID's. Two 55W kits from DDM tuning, with no headlamp adjustment. I cant honestly say I'm not that impressed, everyone else seems to be blown away and I'm like WTF!?! I do understand about the headlamp position on the low beams but the hi beams are on point, I am on the verge of declaring this mod a not worth the money.

Sorry to hear that Sam-what K factor did you get?I've got the 6,000K,55w bulbs in all four lamps-these things are WAY bright...So much so that during the daytime I get flashed sometimes by oncoming cars-and I've got mine set just about right for NOT blinding anyone coming at me.Mine are BRIGHT WHITE hues. There's NO comparo to the stock bulbs with mine.
