Are you able to convert the shift pattern to GP shift? GP shift is the reverse shift pattern, which is one up, 5 down.

Sorry for delay in answering. Yes GP pattern if you want, it depends how you mount the linkage on the shift shaft. You can set the strain gauge to measure compression, extension or both. Mine is running reverse GP and is set for compression, GP pattern would be extension.

Ordered mine today from Motomummy.

Annitori also makes a similar product for $300. Sounds great if you can do without the cool gadgetry and infinitesimal degrees of adjustment on the HM.

MM included the ZX-14 on their drop down menu for me. Says "08 ZX-14 but that will work for all years ZX-14.

You made a good decision. If I had gotten the one that goes to the power commander I would be shit out of luck now... ECUnleashed has my bike and I will not be using a power commander... I am glad I spent the little extra for the standalone unit. You will see that the wiring loom is a little bit of a pain to get attached to the coils but it's a really nice setup... especially full throttle clutch less up shifts!

The Annitori guy explained it quite well to me. The HM PC is the outmoded version. The HM Plus is just the way things are going with the technology that is being unveiled.

The HM can but damned if the 14 can. Just not enough room to put that shift knuckle on upside down. At least not on the Gen 1.

Well on the Gen 2 I believe there is enough room... another reason to ugrade!

^^^Damn, I still can't get an r just for that but ya, that is another very nice improvement other than the suspension and engine.

well ready to do my install and stopped dead in my tracks....

You will see that the wiring loom is a little bit of a pain to get attached to the coils but it's a really nice setup.

I had the stick coil wires off, yeah the grey taped bundle, no prob, I just marked each connector with tape 1,2,3,4 so I could reinstall properly. I see how the HM loom connectors plug in and jump between the stick coils and the OEM loom.

....any tips you could give me on the order the HM loom plugs in?? They coulda mark that on the loom so as to avoid any question. No illustrations either. ...I assume the loom connector that goes to the LCD is on the far left side of the bike and the next connector goes to cylinder #1, then the next to Cylinder #2.....all the way to the last connector on the far right going to cylinder #4?? Like this? Almost seems too obvious to ask but sure hate to screw that and start the bike up! yowwwWWIE!!

Got the answer from Annitori. Both Steve and Paul are good fellas.

"Yes, that will work. It does not matter which direction you go, left to
right or right to left...
"

So I guess you could hook it up in reverse if you had some reason you wanted to do that.

I can't understand why anyone would need to do that so the picture posted above is the way to install.

The bike would not start or it would run rough with the wires connected wrong. Wouldn't want to find out by trial and error.

It is a slightly neater install if the the leads are connected from left to right with the LCD connector on the right (opposite of the picture above). I will be installing mine that way. The wire will make a big from the stick coils, down the right side of the bike to the under seat compartment, up the left side and then down tp the shifter linkage rod.

If installed as shown above, the wires need to double back from under the seat to the shifter.

I'll post a how too of course.........in case anyone is out there watching.

....just to carry this conversation I'm having with myself one step farther, here is the order I have decided to wire the HM shifter. The loom is reversed from th eorder I have in the pic above so that I do not need to run the LCD wire on the left and then back down the left again to the shifter. This way the wire makes a circle from front left to side right.

According to the directions, it says:
I am a two wire pickup out to the calc box. My 3rd wire is the ground. Say?, as I say to myself... I have 3 grounds;
1. I can remote my own ground, I find something on the frame to scrape away, use a star washer to dig into the metal frame is one.
2. I have my 12v ground wires I can piggy onto.
3. I have a 5v ground j-box I can piggy onto says 3.

Do I want to?:
1. Ping alone?
2. Ping with the 12v'ers
3. Ping with the 5v says [pick].

Should I find a problem:

1. I remove my own frame ground.
2. I tie into the 12v black and yellow is this ground j-box.
3. I tie into the sensor/ign sensor signal says I am more balanced with said aftmrk unit ground to ground balance.

I am going to spark one time only. I am going to pick up that ping when I tie my plug wires to a spark stick harness. I don't care if I ping right to left, my calc is going to know my shift sequence is the ping right to left is the cleaner install is all.

My speed roll of the drum roll is the key fobbing the 1-2-3 under a second or time that key fob 3 times under a second meaning do it fast! There, you have your kill time under the foot feel. And that guy can stress all he wants. I'm not going to listen to that shit one bit, when I hear Mr. H-D's high miler '04 without a wire harness bit of trouble. That is trouble right there, you need to explain to me how I had to cut through some tight zip-ties all inside that harley wire harness. Where is that wire breathing and it etched where?

Is that italian made? Are they stressing how cheap that harness can't take a beating of a zip-tie? My zip-ties hold my number plates as a rear fender give me that shit about stress, heat and give me a break is none that I can she? She IThe things you read on the net.

If the loom is installed right to left as in first pic above, there is a screw on that section of subframe that would make a perfect ground. I have my PC grounded there and never had a problem with it.

If the HR loom is installed left to right as in the pic 2 posts ^^^^, the ground wire comes out on te right side close to the battery - ground screw. There are a number of screws that could be used on the rights side (2 air cleaner element guides screws on side of airbox).

Loving the HM Unit. My bike was tied up for 2 months at the ECUnleashed dealer working on the new flash. It’s been coming along, and soon I will have info for you guys regarding "flash options", (What I can tell you so far is more HP & TQ, top speed limiter has been removed and the rev limiter is raised). The HM Shifter makes me grin ear to ear, my rev limiter has been raised and I have been shifting 10.8-11K and unit functions PERFECTLY. Never missed a shift once I played around with the settings, 63MS and forgot how much pressure but I noticed that I wanted it a little "firmer". When settings were too low it was a "clunky" shift, with it firmer it is seamless and the bike just goes. Night and day compared to the Dynojet option & as far as air shifter goes, no tank, compressor or buttons to wire up. I am a street rider that will be doing some "drag racing" (on the track), and a track day here & there, as far as I am concerned this piece of equipment is a must have!

Firmer, meaning more load on the lever so when it senses the pressure being applied it just blips instantly into the next gear.

Seno how does it hook up? I looks like it has plugs that would plug into the coil packs? is that right? I liked the PCV cuz it was plug n play but I hear you on it being crap....I'm wanting one of these bad! lol So for my 09 what would I need to get as far as the rods?

\me neither ...I'm going a little crazy. Unfortunately I am not going to do every mod I had on the list before I put the fairings back on. Some of the appearance stuff is going to have to wait....I can't wait to ride the 14 much longer.

I can't stand a stock bike anymore. Truly would rather just not have a bike.

Guys where are you getting the HEIM Joints? I just got my HM in and there is nothing with it? For $500.00 there should be an assortment of mounting hardware I would think. I need to mount mine like Seno’s Dynojet photo. Is there a kit like that that is available for the 2009?

I was under the impression that the HM was meant to be used with rearsets. It would work fine to install vertical with a direct to shaft lever like OEM but most people who use these are using rearsets already. I think you will need to try getting a Heim joint from Vortex. I always heard they are good for replacement parts.

Just tested the HM. OH YEAH BABAY!!

Guys I’m installing the HM on my 2009 now and I have a dumb question….If I mount it like the photo Seno posted of the 2009 with the power commander set up how will the bike shift? It seems the HM doesn’t move in and out like a plunger so how will the gear shift be able to move upward to make the gear change? I’m not seeing how this works? I have it plugged in and the bike starts up fine and the display shows 50 on it but the hooking it up to the shifter doesn’t seem right?

I think it is a momentary kill switch. You still have to shift it, but without using the clutch. This is speed shifting, but you do not:

1. Lift off the throttle
2. Pull the clutch in.
3. Shift as fast as humanly possible and it keeps up with you and then some.

Hub I got that part but what I am saying is if I drill the shifter lever and bolt one end to the lever and the other to the case or speed sensor like it shows in Seno's pic it will be all ridged mounted and the gear shifter will not travel upward and make the shift? The other set ups I see show them on rear sets but I was told you didn't need rear sets with this....anyone have a clue?
