I machined my right side Muzzy slider.. easy when you have a machine shop :)

Anyone know about peg lowering brackets, or do I need to make my own?

Has anybody tried to remove the tank pad?

Yes, I removed my tank pad. Hopefully you mean that cheap tank protector that Kawi supplies with the 14R's. I replaced it with a Magnight matt black tank protector. A bit more protection if you work the tank while riding.

I heated it up with a blow dryer and pealed it back. Probably could have heated it up a little more because a lot of glue residue was left. Some WD40, soaking and fingernail scrapping got the rest. Some real fine scatches in the clear coat were left but I used a cleaner, polish nd wax to clean it up.

My reco would be to heat it up a bit more to get more glue off when pulling the pad off.

GL,
Dan

Thanks Guys for the compliments. I had to really plan this one out! the wife don`t know i bought the 2012.
So i had to make the 2012 look exactly like the 2007. or as close as possible.
took some work and late hours to get 5 years worth of parts off in a few late nights. and then the weather and stars had to line up just right. and blah blah blah. .
all i can say is the first 500 miles have been great and she is a hard charger. this bike pulls like a mother!!!
and the mods with the pipes and the velocity stacks feel great!! looking forward to a great summer of riding....

Did I mention she walked around the finished product and still had no idea why I was grinning like a school boy with a woody!!

needless to say i`m currently storing my 2007 at a friends garage until it`s sold!!

taking this secret to the grave with me!!!

safe riding everyone!!

darryle.... maybe because my bike is white..but in 1 and half years and 15,000 miles i only washed it with a hose twice.....what i do is wet a nice cloth and pad dry to pick up the dirt... then wax the color plastic painted areas to remove any sturbbon left over grease or road tar.... then i use armol all on the vinly and stuff.... use wd 40 on the wheels and any other metal places that look dirty... and no shit but if you seen my bike it looks like it came out of the showroom.

maybe with a black bike this not work so good....don't you get tons of water spots hitting it with a hose ?

see i clean in sections so if i get bored i will take a ride or do something else... and next time clean or finish other spots... but if i hit the bike with a water hose im comited to doing the whole bike then and now.

don't think i ever hit the ninja with a water hose ....maybe once.. if i can recall... but i try not to ride in he rain.

Ninjaryder,

That is crazy but good for you an like I said she looks great! The summer will be good to you. I know you know Black is the fastest color an for TOUGHS WHO DON'T KNOW NOW YOU KNOW!!

Mark43,

The color Black is hard to keep clean but you must look at it this way YOU MUST STAY ON TOP OF IT LIKE A GOOD WOMEN and it will all be fine...

But real talk! As for the black wheels I use WD40 on the wheels it makes cleaning them the next go round even easier. The paint you must keep a good coat of wax on her an keep a can of polish around wipe her down before you head out an you will always look good!!!!

Stomp Grip pads for 06-11 do not fit even though it says so on their website. I contacted Eric at Stomp Design and they will be fixing the listing on their website and designing a new set for the 2012. I had to cut the 3rd finger off the black pad as it didn't line up properly with the lines on the bike (see pic).

R&G cotton reels do not fit. You need to add 3 M10 washers between the reel and the swing arm to make them fit. I will post pics later today.

I would think the mounts hose and fin count sizes are the same. Only difference between the two are the mounting stays for the second fan, where the gen 1 has the only one side for fan stay mounts. Taking a guess on this.
