Cheap levers/Good investment?
01/21/11 11:09 PM

Ride It

The price is definitely great compared to Pazzos. I could get a set of longs and a set of shorts for less than 1 set of Pazzos.... but how does the weight/feel/performance/quality compare? Looks like these are exact copies of Pazzo levers, AFAICT. The JPEG below was even named pazzo_measurements(1) by who ever created the file.

I don't recall hearing much if anything about these. I'm a little skeptical. Any ideas?

Ride It control levers.

Ride it also makes a set of levers that has adjustable length. $99 + $18 shipping, they throw in free matching grips with these too. They look less sporty but the length adjustment seems like it could be a great idea. And cheap!

First saw those about a year ago on the local forum. Haven't heard anything bad.

One thing to consider when buying "knock off" stuff is the availability of replacement parts. You can buy any part of CRG levers individually... don't know, but would assume, same for Pazzos and other well known brands... Then again, like you mentioned, those are cheap enough to just buy two pairs. Then you'd have more replacement parts than you will, hopefully, ever need.

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!” HST

hey, j. I'm quite excited about this. I may just go for the $41 Ebay levers. (Yes, you can get Pazzo copies on Ebay for $41 from China to your door) It's so cheap.

Ya...saw those too. They "look" okay.Gotta be careful though buyin those aftermarket levers...SOME of them work okay for a bit, then pins and stuff start to wear...i.e.,clutch lever comes to mind.Fine for a while...then she inexplicably started slippin.Couldn't figure out for a couple of weeks what was happening.THEN...I happened to read on another forum about the same problem...slipping clutch. The common denominator was...VOILA!The aftermarket lever piston pins were wearing down.Put my stock levers back on....clutch was PERFECTO again!

Here's a dumb observation....okay...you buy the "shorty" levers there.Okay...fine.But they have that adjustable lengthener on there.WTH?Kinda silly IMO.I think a better deal(for me) would be to take my stock lever to a welder.Have him heat the lever some, then bend carefully into the closer reach I want(IF I wanted to). That to me sounds much better.I had Pazzos, and CRG's.They're fine...for what they are...but really,do I need something different? My stock levers work excellent with their length.(and they do adjust close enough for one finger use).

I actually thought that was quite ingenious, blue. You can buy one set and have a shorty for your two finger brake and a regular for the (let's admit it) slightly stiff ZX-14 clutch. You can adjust them anywhere you want if a shorty is too short you make it a shorty and a quarter. I like the idea but it looks closer to stock with those non lightening holed knobs on the end. Still real cool looking but Pazzo is what i want to see. The set screw seems like it could come loose with a lot of use and you can bet those screws have very short thread. Blue locktight 4 sure. These are so cheap, I'd buy a long set and a short.

I see Ride It makes reasets for the busa-------$229.

I only paid $78 for my pazzo's shipped with new grips thrown in for free! I got the shorties cause I only use two fingers for the clutch and one for the brake! I LOVE them!

Do you mean to tell me they were realPazzos or were they knock offs? The Ride It brand will send a set of grips too. The Chinese Ebay guys have anodized alum/rubber grips just like the name branders I want but the China ones cost about $20 or some ridiculous price like that. If they will do combined shipping, I may order the whole package, --levers, grips and bar ends. Maybe do the busa the same way.

I got the shorties cause I only use two fingers for the clutch and one for the brake!

I have read a reasonable # of threads and seems like most people say long for the street and short for the track. Some even prefer to stay with a long clutch lever because it is a bit hard to squeeze with two fingers. A shorty for brake should be ample for anyone and all riding styles, I think.

The aftermarket lever piston pins were wearing down.Put my stock levers back on....clutch was PERFECTO again!

Got the same story almost word for word on bikeland. I believe the guy is a heavy duty drag racer and he said it was a real problem with clutch creeping under load. I can imagine that was a serious problem with drag launching but he said it would also be a problem on the street over time.

Another guy said he had heard of the clutch slipping problem being alleviated by drilling the hole out a bit larger so the pin fit correctly. Hm. I don't know. I'm not one to mod my mods. I guess they are cheap enough to try them and see if it looks like they will have a problem. In the end, it may be cheaper to just pay for the Pazzos.

For what it's worth, my Wife has Pazzo levers on her Viffer and snapped one when it fell over on her. I called Pazzo and ordered a replacement lever, and the guys were fantastic. As it turns out, we were going to be in Vancouver the next weekend to pick up my 14, so the guy from Pazzo said "no problem" and drove over to Richmond Motorsports and hand delivered the replacement lever to us.
I'm sure they weren't the cheapest levers out there, but their service was prompt and surprising in this day and age.

I bought the the shorty levers (in red ) with the free grips deal (in black) from Ride It and they fit perfect and feel great (nice smooth movement and no play in them. Can get 3 of my gorilla fingers on them no problem and they look awesome too (match the 08 SE red very well). Amazed that it only took 7 days to get them from Taiwan to my door in Alberta, Canada. The grips are pretty nice allthough about 1/4" short (small gap between bar end - grip - switch), not gonna bitch though because they were free and I really only wanted the levers anyway. Hope this helps some.

Thanks Hydrovac. Now I really don't know what to do. The Ride Its will cost me close to $150 shipped because I would be ordering a set of longs and shorts.

For $185 I could get a set of pazzos and know they will fit perfect.?????????

You mean the controls with light horn directional emergency shut off? I wonder if those have screws that could be loosened to slide them out a quarter inch? Looks like there is a brcket for cables on the right and that I can see in the service manual has screws on it for adjustment.

ah well----maybe you don't want to screw with it!

As far as I know you can't change the position of the switches on the bars. I think they have locator tabs on the bar which will not let the switch move, I loosened mine off and you can wiggle them around but not change the position on the bar, if anyone knows more on this I would like to hear too.

I ordered from a company called the2wheels from China. The ordering process did not go as it was explained. 1. BUY IT NOW. 2. PAYPAL 3. Specify color lever, adjuster and length.

What happened to step 3? There was no step 3! "You did not specify lenght or color so item will be shipped in default specifications."

I Ebay messaged them as they indicated to do if the order needed to be changed.

They had answered 2 previous messages. I'm hoping I don't get screwed on this.
