Gay guys wear bandanas in Oz? I think it's sorta out of fashion here for anyone. It was more cool in the 80s 90s. Now it's just for bikers. I wear them in the summer because I'm bald and I don't give a crap about looking behind the times. I don't usually wear one when I ride since I have a helmet on most of the time. I think i lost one of my favs one night doing a quick acceleration.

But if it works over there go crazy. Just funny how there are different perceptions.

Also no choice with motorcycle helmets here. Compulsory. Wear it while riding or cop a huge fine or licence loss.
By the way, I'm just fine with that rule.

What was I thinking. I am back to that sit up kind of ride. My residuals are catching up so the more I work the core, stand up for bumps, run thru that program of just riding the bike, I need a lot of torque to push my fat ass around. I need to sit on that ktm and see if I can live on it first.

Hagrid, you're wanting a 1290 Katoom? Why don't we all get one, I think that bike is badass! Hub, you in, the more upright ergos would suit you and endless wheelies are only the throw of a switch away!

Yep, that's quite a build, check out the auxiliary radiator below the main radiator and the truss subframe, Ohlins and Brembos, he went top spec on everything.

I went back and read through some of this thread, interesting how things change in only a year, the Honda SP turned out to be a dud as was the 1199 Panigale (over rated) and the EBR 1190X is history along with Buell Racing. BMWs are still selling well and ZX-10Rs are still the racers choice.

Here's my short list of bikes I'm looking at:

2015 R1 Base Model $16,000
2015 KTM 1290 $17,000
2015 1299 Base Model $19,000

All pricey but all very capable machines.

The 2015 R1 appears to be the new class leader, not class leading HP but the best overall in the liter class with MotoGP levels of handling and electronic aids. I predict it will be a standout in this years shootouts.


The KTM is the only choice for a big naked in my opinion. It's traded wins with the BMW S1000R, they both have good qualities but the KTMs mega motor and hooligan styling is a deal clincher for me.


The 1299, while just a notch below the R1, oozes with sex appeal and has character in spades.

I just pulled the trigger on another 14r. 2015 in the matte metallic gunmetal colour....
The Z1000 lasted just 4 months.... damn that bitch rode rough....

"I just pulled the trigger on another 14r." = Is a given. I'll never be without King TorQue. The ktm owner here w/14 to compare both bikes, says and I paraphrase; 'The 1290 is a beast but does not pull like the 14' is assright... it's not even close... as mother tea spoiled me.

Until the others follow a kawi torque band, none sing it like the four teens humming away.

Except now for the H2LOL!!Fuck this thing is radical!!!!Most awesome bike I've ever ridden.Had the BEST ride of my life today....GEEZ.Can't get enough;)Now that I've customized the way I need her to be...my God...she's definitely an all-day rider.Who woulda thought...not me...that's fer sure.That pipe and all has made a WORLD of difference.I seriously don't think I'll be flashing THIS girl.I took some vids today.As usual,the damn battery took a dump somewhere along the best high speed run I have here...(not straights).Just incredible how this bird leaps and handles.
