Do you recall what the weight savings were from the wheels? Are you running ceramic bearings?
I did a lot more than just the wheels- my entire rear wheel assembly
is 07-08 gsxr1000 including swapping brake hanger, caliper, rotor etc.
with weight savings being the #1 goal.
Just a swap from oem to BST on the zx14 will shed close to 20 lbs. off.
I do have ceramic wheel bearings but wouldn't recommend them due to the $$$.
Here it is roughly for me:
- slightly over 40 lbs. with the exhaust swap
- slightly over 25 lbs. with the wheels swap and rear wheel conversion with all
titanium hardware including both front and rear axle; my rear 220mm brake rotor
is 1/3 of the weight of the oem 250mm; my Tokico rear brake caliper and hanger is 1/2 of
the weight of the oem Nissin
- slightly over 10 lbs. with the Speedcell battery
I have removed all rubber isolation between the frame and tank, switched to an
aftermarket side stand, ditched the belly pan and bracket, removed the Reed valve,
switched to a zx10 cf front fender, removed the rear fender, switched to cf heel guards,
switched to Oberon pegs, removed padding from lower and mid fairings fairings, switched to
a billet Vortex gas cap, switched to Spiegler brake and clutch lines with a very short rear line
and all oem swingarm brackets removed, switched to aftermarket bar ends and Pazzo levers, removed
the tool kit and box, removed the side helmet lock and chain, removed my tail section supports,
removed my mirrors, removed my horn, switched to Factory-Pro Velocity stacks and yanked the stock rubber ones...
I'm sure I'm forgeting a lot of stuff that was stripped off the bike or modded.
I've added a GPR V4, PC3, Speedohealer- probably 3 lbs. with harnesses and damper mount.
Very close to 100 lbs. lighter than stock and certainly over 100 lbs. lighter than a stock 08-09 zx14.
