New ZX14 owner.. Milwaukee, WI
01/08/15 5:04 PM

Just stopping by. This is my first time using a forum for motorcycles. This is first time owning a ZX14 (2008). I've had bikes before, but this bike is my favorite!

Any tips or words of advice will be greatly appericated.

Thanks,

Fred

I-45 is heavily patrolled by the Sheriffs Dept North of Burliegh when the weather gets warm.

We should get together for a ride some time. Hwy 65 in Eagle/East Troy is a fun ride.

2008! Good Year! What color? Wouldn't be Midnight Sapphire blue, would it?

Rook, definitely! I'm new to this area. We moved up from Miami, FL. I'm just south of Milwaukee; (Racine), but I work in Milwaukee. I've been looking for a few ppl to ride with when the weather permits.

No, black w/blue trim.

We moved up from Miami, FL

OH I'll just bet you are shocked!

I'm just south of Milwaukee; (Racine),

Sure, I know Racine a little bit. I used to do some work for JWax a long time ago. In fact, if If I'm not mistaken, Hwy65 goes right to Racine through East Troy and Eagle. We could make a big loop. Return by 94E to 43S and back to Racine, if you like the freeway. The county rout is better. You could go insanely fast on the Freeway but that's not for me. Way too risky. How ever you like to ride is fine with me but if you're too fast, you'll have to be the point man. I already had my 110 mph ticket and so I like to take the corners as fast as I can and slow down pretty much on the straightaways.

I-45 from Milwaukee to east Troy used to be a pretty safe place to do some high speeds. I see more police around there now. LOL a few years ago, I had some real fun chases with other bikes on that road. One time The guy ahead of me exited and I raised my arm up to wave. Almost tore my arm off at over 100 mph. Ouch, little muscle pull. However you like to ride is fine by me. If you just want a leisurely cruise through the country, I like that too. It's fun to just do any kind of riding with others. Stick around the forum. We'll hook up when the weather gets warmer. ..in a month....I hope. -3° here this AM.

Rook, sounds good to me.... Coming from Miami, there's not to many country roads so I usually just rode really hard and fast. But I'm looking to slow it down a bit. I would love to ride the country roads and get a good feel for my bike. Then I'll let her loose once I have her tamed! lol....

Look forward to linking up with you in the spring!

Purchased a rear cowl cover. Was not a big fan of the banana seat look....

Looks awesome.
That pipe looks loud!

What other bikes have you owned?
The ZX14 is a poor choice for a guy that wants to slow down.

Jimmymac.... Lol... Just a lil bit. I know I still have it in me to let it rip when I have to... Yea, the pipes are awesome. Not sure exactly what system they are, but they are loud!

I've previously had the following:

98 ZX6R - Real fun bike. I had it jetted and a few other things... Ran like a 750.... Loved it!

02 Honda RC51 - That bike had some tourque! Wish I would've kept it... I rarely see them anymore.

05 CBR1000 - Was nice.. Not for me though.

Now 08 ZX14 - A true beauty! I can't wait to see what she has. Always loved Kawi's...

How about you? What other bikes have you had?

Well since you asked, of course I had dirt bikes as a kid. My first street bike was a '72 CB350, then a CB360. Then I got my first Kawi with an '85 Ninja 600R. Then a ZX-11, ZZR1200, '06 ZX-14, '08 ZX14SE, '10 Connie and '12 ZX-14R.
Still have the Connie and 14R. I'll never own another brand.

they had to mix the two fastest colors for 2008 so they came up with midnight sapphire blue.

Wanting to change out all my headlights. Purchased these H11's. Rep said these were compatiable with my 08... If so, could somebody give me a little advise on changing them out? Don't really work on my bike by myself too much, so I don't want to mess anything up.

Help wanted!!! lol
