Thanks. I'll check after school. You show on FB but not on ninjaforums? Or maybe it's a private view on FB?

Here is the missed shift situation described by HM in their pdf. This is what is happenning. If you can't move your foot as fast as the kill time, th eshift might not lock into place.

"The kill time must be longer than actual time taken to mechanically shift because of gear change variables, otherwise damage is done to the gearbox. HMSS reduces the fixed kill time by advanced calculations to identify the re-engagement of the dogs, meaning the ultimate rapidity and safety in shifting."

Hi guys. Been following this thread with interest as I'm seriously considering getting a quick shifter in the near future. Does the HM Plus SS allow you to do both up and down shifts? Thanks for the great feedback so far??

I can't remember but that info is on one of the HM threads in the last couple months. I know the HM GP does clutchless downshift.

Pirate, I don't think the lever plus SS or any other system of that type could do a proper down shift without the ability to blip the throttle. This is something that was mentioned in the HM GP system.
But they also mention that that is nothing they sell.

Got it. I confirm, Nasty or whoever it was on that 14 footshifts about as fast as a quickshifter. I'm not convinced every shift was quite as fast but awful damn fast. It probably feels about the same as a quickshifter and doesn't cost a dime. I think he does a quick partial throttle chop and clicks up at the same time openning the throttle back up immediately. The throttle chop has the same effect as ignition kill.

Whoever it was? Thanks for confirming that Rook, and I'm sure there are plenty of others that shift the same way. It's just a perfectly timed right wrist twitch while hanging the next gear. Just like you said basically the same way a quick shifter works, but manually.

This is what I thought, too, with the additional thought: It's so fast it sounds just like a quickshifter to me. HMMMM ...

Nastynotch was footshifting that bike. He is a high level rider with the ability to shift and manipulate his motorcycle with precision. His shifts are like a 16 yr old single malt scotch, or an aria by Josephowitcz.

Liar? Nah. Suspicious? Yeah. I don't remember seeing anything incriminating in the vid ... no speedo, no tach, no license plates, etc. So why not leave it publicly posted.

Of course the lack of those things also makes it so I can't identify it as you. Maybe others can

And ... if you can shift that fast without a QS ... and we assume you're not Rickey ... why would anybody ever buy a QS?

If you'll remember my buddy's plate is very visible, that's why its not public. Now just for you, I'm heading to Mexico right now and what I bring back will squash any doubts that you, or anyone may or may not have. I can't answer the last question without sounding cocky.

Thanks for confirming that Nastynotch, but I timed your video from the time you whacked it in 2nd, it took you 14 seconds until you shifted into 6th gear. Go back and time mine, 9 seconds or less for me!!!!!!!!

Must be nice to not weigh much. I'm 265 suited. I also noticed you're short shifting. I run mine out to 11,500 before every shift. From the weight difference alone, yea you'd pull my ass lol.

I'd say the boy does not need a quikshifter. I guess if you're going for time, shifting around 9.5 -10K rpm would be faster for the Gen1. IDK about the Gen2 with basic mods. Personally, I'd rather wind it all the way out just for the fun of it.

Ok, I think I've got this quickshifter set just right. I went out and made about 30 power-runs with NO MIS-SHIFTS with these settings. Sensitivity 100% and kill time 70 ms. When you set the sensitivity at 100% it's just like not having a quickshifter (as far as the tension needed to shift gears is concerned) i.e., it shifts like the regular OEM shifter with no extra pressure needed. I guess I was doing what Rook called, "Lazy shifts" when I was missing the shifts. By the way, it was always from 2nd to 3rd when I would miss a gear, but with the aforementioned settings and my ride/shift style this is by far the best setup for me.

And yes Nastynotch the power-to-weight ratio definitely makes a big difference suited up (full gear) I weigh 149 pounds.

The only thing I hate about today is that I turned off my GoPro when I got back into an area known for cops (I had no plan of running hard) BUT a Corvette C6 ZR1 tried me. It was literally like taking candy from a baby. I really, really, really hate my GoPro was off!

Here is another video of a 60 mph to about 181 mph pull.

I missed all the ruckus it seems but I can confirm that this is very possible. I can manually shift as fast as my air shifter setup. If your using the clutch to upshift your doing it way wrong and way slow. Hell 90% of roll on vids on youtube have the extremely slow and sloppy shifts. It's painful to listen to...

Agreed. This trans shifts VERY slick on the gas.I rarely would use the clutch, even for downshifts...Only at low speed and 1st to second type stuff. The little 'blip' has to be done within milliseconds. But it's VERY doable.Almost only 'think' powercut..and make the shift.

Nastynotch, when I dynoed my bike during the custom tune, it made 208rwhp at 10,400 rpms. In the two videos I shift between 10,400 and 10,900 on every shift. How is that short shifting?

Here is my dyno sheet:

I can manually shift as fast as my air shifter setup. If your using the clutch to upshift your doing it way wrong and way slow.

IS it at all likely you will miss a manual clutchless upshift and if so, what happens, false neutral or pops back down to the last gear?

I don't quite get how this works. How do you match speeds for a clutchless downshift if you cut back on the throttle? Is there a brief period of time after you have cut back on the throttle where the bike is between gears and the engine spins up quick like you pulled the clutch? I usually leave the throttle about where it is and pull the clutch real quick while clicking down a gear. I think the sound of the engine rpm is my cue to tap the pedal down. It's almost all doen simultaneously. I guess I've done it enough that I know what to expect to hear and what to do. There is knack to all of this stuff that you just get from doing it but it is not so easy to describe.

If you miss the unloaded transmission window then it simply just won't shift. Zero danger.

I can manually shift as fast as my air shifter setup.

Why does anybody buy a quickshifter of any kind then?
