My puppy thread lays in tatters!
If only there was a way I could "re-thread" it. Someone should start a thread about that...

Verbal: Who is Keyser Soze? He is supposed to be Turkish. Some say his father was German. Nobody believed he was real. Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever worked directly for him, but to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have worked for Soze. You never knew. That was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, poof. He's gone.

Def my favourite. Tonight I rest and hunt close to the chest. I hope you enjoyed the preview of my strategic brew. Not ready he is to be revealed to the forum crew. Fear not the mystery man will receive his due. Round wide girth, and low self worth shall be penance paid, by this little twirp.

Don't you watch the boards?
Will this help with your puppy Mr Spaghetti thread! ?
No? How about this?
Wait, this should be on the Beware the ThreadKiller thread. ...but that thread isn't about threads anymore....it's about spaghetti, too, I think.

So far, dogs seem to be adjusting well. They love running around the back yard like maniacs. The male is typical male Great Dane. Afraid of nothing, and only wanting to please. The female is pretty skittish. She finally stopped barking and growling at me when I first walk in, and comes when I call. She stays at arm length for a couple minutes, but when she lets me pet her, she's lovin it. It's going to take some work (fun). They aren't housebroken, don't know how to walk on leash, or even to sit on command, but they are learning. Biggest hurdle is they are inseparable. The wife took the male to the vet, and the female was going nuts. It took me 30 minutes to settle her down enough to sit. She's a good howler though.

Since neither dog is housetrained, or has any manners at all, they are in a heated garage with a dog door to the back yard at night. HUGE upgrade for them since they had been in a 6' x 4' kennel 24/7 before we got them. We had snow a couple days ago, and neither dog bothered to go outside to crap. The female has diarrhea, making things worse. Vet didn't have an opening till friday, so we'll have her checked out then. The plan is to let them in a little longer each night as time goes by. Right now we take turns getting up every 3-4 hours to make sure they go out, to get them in the habit. We've got them sitting on command, and they look when we call their name, but don't come consistently. I'm afraid of what they'd do on their own in the house, and I will not kennel them again, so this is the best compromise for now. They are definitly happy to be here! They tackle my wife when she goes out, and I can hear her laughing the whole time.

The shelter we got the dogs from, who claimed to only have them 2 months, posted their weights online. The male 147lbs. and the female 109 lbs. At our vet they weigh 123 and 87. The shelter had them on a "special" diet because of stomach problems. Our vet found no sign of any problems, and said they would definitely lose weight on that food. So the dogs lost over 20 lbs each in 2 months at the shelter. No wonder they're skin and bones. The more shelters I deal with, the more incompetent, moronic shelter owners I meet. Took the male for his first walk today. After 3 blocks, he was walking next to me with a slack leash, and standing still at every corner. He did great! I can't imagine why the shelter owner said they don't walk on leash very well.

Good looking pups, wyefahz: particularly the one on the right.
Now then, new business. It occurs to me that Bella, heretofore known as "Hey, Fatty!" due to her increasingly "sausage-like" stature, has taken upon herself the mantle of Den Mother and become increasingly headstrong... towards both beasts AND humangs.
This condition shall be thwarted. How, you ask? Quite simple, really: a quick swat from a paw sporting claws.
Behold, the alpha and omega:
