Couldn't remove the reed valves anyway. They are glued in place by the carbon and grease. Maybe a soak with kerosene would do it but I'm not going to bother this time. Let them stay glued in place and everything is as it should be.

Dip them in vinegar, not the rubber if you can help it. Or experiment and dip it all in and then see if it fits all clean. The rubber may swell. Want to work micro style? Eye drop and a little vinny filled in the dropper. Drop and wipe. Let it soak first. Time is your friend.

So clean I could eat off it.

Just for fun, I'll drop a drip of vinny on it to see what happens. I may just lay a rag wet with kerosene on it to see if that will loosen it up. If they come off maybe a little more of a vinny test inside. Hate to mess up the gaskets though.

Lil update to conversation starting on page 1. You DO NOT want to remove the rubber gasket that the reed valves set on top of. It seals the block off plates. I don't see why the reed valves could not be removed but I'm sticking with Muzzy's recommendation to leave them in. My reed valves are stuck to the gaskets now. One of the gaskets came loose but the reed valve was glue in place with carbon. I left everything in when I put the block off plates back on.

Just to be mean... :D

I wonder how many ounces those reed valves weigh..? That's just dead weight sitting there. :P

Look at the rubber lip seal all the way around. Empty, a flame is going to come up to that cover and out. How are you going to keep the flame from burning the paper gasket you made. Not from paper, butta beer can. Snip the two ends off; flatten the can; make one gasket out of the crease; place both caps in a vice-grip; have the flat can between the caps; cut the gasket out so it's past the cap enough; punch the holes with a nail and spread it out with the bolt. That blown out hole has to be rolled back so it closed the flap side as the creased side is not going anywhere. Hammer it flat and statically make sure the bolt goes thru no problem> the gasket has both bolts inline when all is done. Touch up paint to match.

Get the rubber engine boot off. Salvage: is to remove the throttle body and do it right. Backyard: razor between the throttle bodies at the base of the Y, or when you see the holes around the spigot ports you'll get it. Then, choose which side you cut down the slide of the boot to slide it out of either side of the bike.

I wish you would put this bike between your legs once this bike was done, lift it off its side stand, let it drop to the side from vertical. I'm talking about a 600cc. Bike was stuck being stock but the weight off the bike ran circles around the same bikes that were not ounce'd to death like this one.

I started hydraulic bleeding. Got through rear brake. I will load theses pics ASAP. Unfortunately, I think there are a few other tutorials that relate to PAIR REMOVAL which are also without photos. I'll try to get them all tonight.

Okay I just got done doing the removal on a 2020 Zx14r..... That sucked! I have big hands, chubby fingers and a short temper. I stripped the outside left allen head due to there being a 1/2 gallon of lock tite on those bolts. I wound up having to use needle nose vice grips to get it out about a 16th of a rotation at a time, those are long bolts to hold little plates in place!

Then I broke to wire connector to the valve..... guess I don't need that anymore.

But after a trip to the hardware store I'll be back to assembly of this mess.

Thanks for the tutorial Rook. It really did help!

There was not a bike/car I could not get my fat hands on. Short is a short walk away from the job, and rethink of the pilot/passengers/sponge sewn up in the patient, to hold that dick in hand and now treat it like a lifetime head hex or be the one holding his dick.

Music for me, and someone looking the __________ fill in the blank.

Glad it helped. I think mine came out pretty easily. They did have Lock-Tite though.
