Oh one last thing, you'll be staying in the guest bedroom at my house and I'll also cover all of your meals while you're here in Dallas.

I've been thinking about this and probably the best way to make it as fair as possible is for you to do my standard 46 mile loop first so that you can become accustomed to the machine you've chosen, it's handling qualities, the tire characteristics and also to see the types of roads we have around here. All the bikes are on fresh rubber, either BT-016 Pros, Pirelli Corsa Rossos or RS-10 DOT race tires. Then we can go to the one-way, 17 mile run through the twisties. I'll have a referee who will follow on his bike with a GoPro and will film the start so that you can be sure to have at least a 1/4 mile head start on me before I put my machine in gear. That's about as fair as I can make it.

Wow I dunno how this evolved into a road racing showdown, but dang it sounds exciting!

Good luck, fellers!

Can you describe the loop so I can look it up on Google Earth?

Curious to see what the race will entail!

I see your sig says Anna, TX, but no idea of the loop, or the 17-mile part.

Come in on Friday and leave on Sunday afternoon looks best.

Thanksgiving would be better but even if you pay half the plane fair, that's still $500 round trip.

I've been thinking about this and probably the best way to make it as fair as possible is for you to do my standard 46 mile loop first so that you can become accustomed to the machine you've chosen, it's handling qualities, the tire characteristics and also to see the types of roads we have around here.

To make it totally fair, we'd need to both get on a track we've never been on.

I don't mind letting him ride my bikes if he comes down here; but if he wads one up, he just bought it.

Let me be totally honest here--if you were to come here I'd love to hand over the busa to you but I'm not so sure I'd go all out trying to race you. I never go all out by myself because it's too dangerous. I'd probably slow down so as to not see you crash because if you crash here, it's over a hundred or you hit a deer or rear end a car you didn't see through the trees. I guess I'd feel the situation out which is what I always do. I'm not entirely certain you'd do the same but it would be fun. One of these days we'll get together. Thanksgiving would probably be better than this weekend but $500 is still pretty steep.

Now your crawfishin on me Rook, it was you who got drunk, started using vulgar language and disrespected a friend of mine that put that video together, go back and read your comments. You called me out and said you could outrun me on my own roads and now it's time to either man up or shut up. I've made more than a fair offer and I'll be here this weekend if you're man enough to show up. That's all I've got to say to you.

Any excuse to go fast is fine with me. I don't recall saying I'd outrun you on your own roads (unless I was really smashed and can't remember), just that I'd like to see video of you doing some real riding on them.

yup that's what I said. I couldn't have been too drunk.

...and I was just poking fun at yous guys. I have nothing against posering and if that's all a person wants to do on their bike that's totally fine although I don't care to see video of it. There's way too much motovlogging going on Youtube. Get a used GoPro and put up some video of riding. ..or you'll have to wait for me to get there...I'll be sure to mount a rear view cam on my bike just in case.

I've already told you what you can do, come on down here and show me how you can ride this weekend. You're an internet poser, hiding behind your keyboard, talking smack but no guts when someone calls you out. Like I said, man up, put on your big boy panties and come show me what you got. Pick up the phone and buy the ticket, prove to us you're not all talk.

As much as I might wanna try out a Duc, if I was trying to beat somebody I'd probably go for the new ZX10.

I hear good things!

I hear good things!

Both are good, very different in the way they go about it but good. I have to give the new ZX-10R the win in the suspension department though, it is plush and required almost nothing to dial it in. The Ducati is a stiff and non-complaint ride out of the showroom and took a lot of setup work but I have it working well now. On low end the 959 kicks the 10Rs butt, once you get past 9000 rpm it's adios amigo! On the roads out here it's all about getting in and out of the corners quick though and both get the job done, it's all down to the rider.

if
kruz funds me 250 and everyone else generates another $750, that should just about cover it. I'll at least give him a run for his money but I make no promises. This is Kruz's challenge on his roads. I know how many times I ride my roads before I push it my hardest. I honestly don't think there's anywhere on US roads where you can safely go all out for 46 miles straight but 5 or ten, that i could do.

You're an internet poser, hiding behind your keyboard, talking smack but no guts when someone calls you out.

well, I have yet to see any video of you riding. just pictures of your bikes.

what was i called out on? my opinion of the boring video of you getting snuck past at 25 mph? I guess that is pretty amusing now that I think about it but i was sure expecting more than that.

Then we'll do 5-10 miles, no problem.

well, I have yet to see any video of you riding. just pictures of your bikes.

You'll get to see how fast I am first hand, I don't do internet videos.

I guarantee this will be anything but boring.....

Did you get the $750 for the trip?

Hi Extrapolator, Anna's kind of a hub for back road sports riding in North Texas. Hundreds of miles of back roads all over this area.

Listed below is four FM (Farm to Market)roads within five minutes of my home. Roads are fairly narrow two lane affairs and are out in the country with a good mix of corner types. A little bit of everything, medium to high speed sweepers, blind corners, some neutral camber, some positive camber and some negative camber to keep things interesting. Lots of decreasing radius turns, some rolling terrain with elevation changes in the corners and some flat. Good straights between corners on some of the roads if that's your thing. Most of the roads are very well maintained, a few rough sections of asphalt here and there but nothing an experienced rider can't handle.

FM 455 Anna to Celina
FM 2862 Anna to Westminster
FM 1827 Altoga to New Hope
FM 545 Melissa to Blue Ridge

Rook said:

I find freeway ramps to be among the safest places to go fast and the corners are no less challenging than those you will find on the county highways i ride.

I'll be curious to see if Rook still believes freeway on ramps are challenging when we're finished. He may have been pulling my leg here but no experienced rider I know would ever make such a statement.

Living in FL I can understand Rook on this. We have very few curvy roads. And when's the last time you saw a cop giving a ticket on an on-ramp?

And being federal highway pavement, they're usually in great condition.

Is it optimum? Of course not. But for some it's almost all we got.

Jafo my friend.....I wouldn't even pretend to be able to keep up with you on a typical Irish road, I've seen the crazy stuff you guys do over there...lol!

I'm hoping you get a chance to come visit North Texas someday. Seriously, you always have a place to stay here and your pick of bikes to ride. I don't have a 1299S to offer but the 959 I think you'd feel instantly comfortable with.

PM me your email address and I'll send you some videos of the riding here, I don't like to post this stuff over the internet.

Cheers!

Understood, I used to live in the city and play on the freeway ramps but got a real eye opener when I first started going out to the country back roads on weekend trips, a totally different world. No two corners are ever the same, an infinite number of variations and you never quit learning, that's why I couldn't understand if Rook was joking or not. If he was joking cool, if he wasn't, then we need to call off this off before he bins one of my bikes and seriously hurts himself. I'm not kidding!

Hey Extrapolator, you can actually take a virtual tour of each of these roads using Google Earth, really cool. They're detailed enough to see road surface condition, even loose gravel.

Here's FM 2862, Anna to Westminster:

https://www.google.com/maps/@33.368262,-96.492393,3a,75y,227.09h,73.1t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1s0cHELDxNGQwF3IXd2HcIjw!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo0.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3D0cHELDxNGQwF3IXd2HcIjw%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D318.10468%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656

This is at the halfway point between Westminster and Anna heading west bound back towards Anna. When it opens, simply continue to click on the screen and it's just like your riding down the road, super cool!

Enjoy!
