Here's a funny video the guy on the white 959 shot yesterday. I had left him way behind in the twisties and was cruising along slowly to give him time to catch up to me. When I stopped at the stoplight, he passed me on my left without me seeing him as I was looking over my right shoulder thinking he was still way back there. Anyway, he thought it was funny and shows how bad the rear view mirrors are on a Ducati, a good view of your elbows and little else.

Rook, you apparently missed the entire point of the vid, the guys on the 959 forum got it instantly as the rear view mirrors on Ducatis are widely know as useless. Interesting videos but looks like straight line stuff and freeway on ramps, nothing to see here so move along. Where are the blind, off camber, decreasing radius turns we ride on here all the time?

Yea we have a bunch of those but we are riding Farm to Market (FM) roads around here. We only use the highway to get to the backroads.

We had a bad one on FM 455 just West of Sanger Texas, not so lovingly called the "Widow Maker" and that 's exactly what it was, blind, off camber and decreasing radius, a regular witches brew and posted 25 mph. Very skilled riders could do it at 70-75 mph but so many bikers crashed on it they bull dozed a hill down and straightened it out a few years back. A riding buddy of mine lost the front end at 75 mph in it when he hit loose gravel and took his leg off below the knee on a guard rail.

If you can get some better material, please show it. I find freeway ramps to be among the safest places to go fast and the corners are no less challenging than those you will find on the county highways i ride. The main difference is that there is no oncoming traffic. I'll go fast anywhere as long as I'm in control. Get a GoPro on that bike. There is Chinese one that films higher quality video than the GoPro and it costs About $100. You need a smartphone to use the app to change settings but other than that all you need is the box and mount. I think I will get one for my daughter----after I try it out.

Here now...here's where it's at. If you can do this on your county roads or freeway I don't care where, show that. Your buddy can save his mirror videos and IHOP visit documentation for the Ducati forum. Get your own camera and show how you ride. Send me the footage and I'll edit it up for you. Even the fastest rides have long and relatively boring spots....unless you're a lunatic in which case the only editing you need is to turn the camera on and off.

Well, thanks Extrapolator...I try to be. I don't mind letting him ride my bikes if he comes down here; but if he wads one up, he just bought it. I think most people would agree that is fair.
