Mitch Piolt Roads 2 Down here $520 a set, they grip and last, don't know about the price being fair. They know we got to have them .
I think we get taken for a ride more than we realise. ?

I've ran;
Pirelli Corsa IIIs for track and street.
Fine for all street and get a bit slippery half way through a track day session. Great power slides, smooth, controllable. About 3,500 miles a set with a track day or two.
Quick warm up on street use. Pretty good in wet.
Pirelli Stradas for rainy Western Wa. St. winter riding.
Very displeased with them. Didnt warm up very quickly and rode hard. Wet grip no better than the Corsa IIIs.
And the main reason I tried them was for improved mileage. Didnt really see it.
Dunlop RoadSmarts for 08 winter riding.
A great tire!! I was very surprised. Awesome wet grip (I ride with motard freaks in our slick winters) even when pushed.
Great dry grip too. Just did a short tour of the Oregon coast and Northern Ca.
Blitzed Ca.36 and 3 with a great passenger and loaded softbags. Rare slips under power and never had a problem with front grip.
I should mention I have a Penske shock with 3/4" increase of ride height and modded forks 1/4 inch "raise" in triple clamps. Thats right I raised the front ride height. Most lower for improved turn in. I raised both ends for improved cornering clearance.
Plus my spring rates and preload are stiff. very stiff. So if a tire has marginal grip I'll bust them loose easily.
The RoadSmarts never gave Me a moment of concern. When the rear does break loose it kind of nibbles along.
A strange thing is the front is 2/3rds worn and the rear has only 1/3rd wear !!?? Both tires show melting from being pushed hard. But every tire does.
8,000 miles and in another 1-2000 I'll replace them as the front will be gone. Twice the mileage I've had out of any tire.
Might try the Michelins because they get such huge praise, and I'm curious if I'll like their profile. They help turn in I'm told, but havent needed it until I modded the suspension.
For half the price it will be hard to go away from the RoadSmarts.

Anyone try the Michelin Pilot Sport HPX? That is the tire the Michelin website recommends for the 14. I'm debating between the BT-016, BT-021, Pilot Road 2, and the Pilot Sport HPX for my next set of tires. I don't think I've seen anything about the HPX though.

I've tried the conti road attacks, and an avon storm rear along with a michelin pilot road 2 front. I have a brand new front and rear pilot road 2 set in the garage waiting to be swapped on when the time comes. The stock bridgestones (both front and rear) wore out at around 2200 miles. The back was so slick I could break it loose easy under throttle in the first few gears without even trying, and the front cupped horribly. The continental road attacks on my busa (same exact tire the 14 would wear) handle and feel awesome....very nice, but they're wearing too fast for me. The avon storm is wearing like iron, but has a rougher ride than the stock bridgestones, because its a much thicker, heavier, stiffer tire. It handles very well, and sticks pretty good, but it does occasionally break loose under full power in the right conditions. So far tho the storm has come the closest to what I need out of a tire....long life combined with good stick and handling I can count on The pilot road 2 on the front of the 14 feels awesome in every department....I can't wait to get a matching pr2 on the rear, should be a sweet combo

I think AVON STORMS are the BEST, they have a Road Hazard Garantee, they stick like Glue, get Great Mileage, 9,000+ on the rear and 12,000 to 13,000 on the front and they don't cost any more than any other tire. I have had 6 sets in over 67,000 miles.Enough Said. Jeffo

It's a toss up now between the Avon Storms-and the new Pirelli Angel st's.ST's are the replacement tire for the Stradas-and they're getting very good reviews online.I've always had good results from the Pirelli line-Stradas for the last couple of seasons.Grip awesome, last around 4,5 thousand miles rear-but would definitely go longer with stock gearing.Handled very good.Never had any slippage in cornering fast.So....we'll see.Jeff's been right on with his bike advice to me so far-so I just may go with the Storms this next season.

I tend to bounce between the Bridgestone BT-016 and the Pirelli Diablo Rosso. The 014s don't last long enough for me though they stick pretty well. I've taken Ursula on a couple of track days and had no problems with the BT-016s, haven't tried the Pirellis yet; maybe next year.

I'm really like the Corsa III's.The Rosso's were not as good as theIII's and dont last any longer.I only liked the battleaxe on my ZRX.Bike had a hinge in the frame and the slipstones were friendly with that hinge

Avon Storms get my vote. Had them on my old Bandit 1200 and have a new set waiting for mounting on my 08 ZX14. They stick well on dry and wet pavement, and wear like iron. Great for commuting and sport/tour style riding. I purchased my last two sets from Southwest Moto Tires in Phoenix AZ. (swmototires.com). I checked around and they had the lowest delivered (shipping is free) prices; and their service is excellent.

Nothing is even close to the Avons as far as wear goes but, I havent tried Pilot Road 2's yet as they are too pricey still or were at last tire purchase...I found a deal on a Pilot Road so I bought it. I love the tire but it has squared off really fast

Now when theese tires came out I was intrested in the long ware part as in the tread thickness on theese are front 7/10th and rear 9/10 as aposed to most tires with front at 4/10th and rear at 7/10th they are a very sure footed tire the photos show them with 2000 miles ft and rear and the last pic is 2100 on stock 014's I'll keep posting every 2000mi
just to see how long they last now the first 2000 has been in winter weather and they are on the 2005 zx12 lots of TQ lots of Hp I am also going to try the shinko stealth 009 ravens as they are billed as shinko's longest waring and best tire looks similar in tread pettern stay tuned ...

Close up

now the front

014 rear all but done maybe 500mi left on it not to ware marks yet but damb they went fast 2100mi

the shinko 009 stealth

Here:
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/28/DV/Street-Bike-Tires.aspx

Or here:
http://www.compacc.com/Tires.cfm

Have had good experiences with both vendors.

Both have some very good deals going on right now.

Trying to decide what set I want...think I'll try the Pilot Road 2's.

My bike has 12k miles on it and I am on my 2nd set of BT-014's. Really no complaints here, other than wearing flat. I just ordered a set of Pilot Road 2's and can't wait to try them. Everything I've heard/read is very favorable.

I generally like to stick with what I know.

I tried BT21's. They were good but seemed a bit stiff so took a while to warm up

I then tried PR2's on advice from this forum..... frickin love em, as much grip as I want, they warm up well and being dual compund, I get great milage (important as bike is my daily ride)

I get about 10,000km (bout 6200 miles) out of a set.

Just had a set of Michelin Pilot Road 2's installed Saturday morning (302.05 for the tires and 66.99 to mount balance and install). I had no trouble with the stock tires sticking but they wore out in about 2000 miles. I was wondering if maybe the factory had made a deal and the stock tires had less tread or different compound that wore quicker so I installed a second set. They wore just as quickly. So after checking out this poll I decided that this many smart people pulled together could not be wrong. Initial feeling is great and the turn in is much quicker. I rode about 160 miles right after install and got caught in the rain twice (if you don't ride in the rain you don't ride they say). The wet traction was great but I did not push it. I will leave more feed back after I put some miles on them.

diablo rosso's, 4500 miles and the front looks almost new, and just changed out the rear today. gonna do a track day on them next sunday. they stick like glue and have GREAT wear! went 2up sat and would get on the gas hard while still leaned over. the center of the rear was down to the wear bars so I was trying to do all of my accelerating while leaned over coming out of the corner. third gear at 7000 rpm and and rolling to wide open was glazing the rear pretty good, but, it held great and never got out of shape. I should be able to get 8-9 thousand miles out of the front pretty easily(wait and see what a track day will do to them), and 2500-4500 miles out of the rears depending on how hard I ride.

I went with PR2's per the recommendation of several people on this site (thank you Heathun ;) ) and they have been great I put 1,200 miles on them so far and honestly did not trust pushing them until around 700 miles in. Now they feel fantastic. Probably more me being cautious with all new tires (first change since OEM's) but they feel and ride great.

I did 40 miles in fairly heavy rain last weekend and they felt solid. Feel like they take a bit longer to warm up over the stock tires, but by the time I am settling in they are good to go for sure.
