One thing I loved about my friend's busa...the shifting.
I think the shifting
might be smoother. I noticed that when both bikes were fairly new. Now I don't notice it so much. Still have the problem of getting the busa to go into 1 if I happen to not shift down as I roll to a stop. The 14 does that too but not as bad. The 14 just has to roll a few inches, the busa you need to let the clutch out slowly til you hear it click in.
Busa sure does run cooler. I like the radiator style oil cooler on the busa--that is a nice idea. Not as much heat on the legs and even the oil stays brown, not black til time to change.
Stock steering damper is a nice feature on the busa and so is the slipper clutch but I will prolly disable mine some day. Little more forward riding position ion the busa. Brakes--you can pull it to the grip and that is just about where it will lock up the front. I don't like the brakes. Have an aftermarket master cylinder waiting to go on her. The busa buzzes. NO crankshaft couterweights (or maybe a single instead of the 14's double?--less rotating mass) Its a nice buzz, I think. Feels very constant, steady. It's like a hummmmmm. kinda cool. The busa has plenty of lowend grunt like the 14 (busa actually makes a bit more torque and higher compression) but it seems to like to be ridden at higher rpm more than the 14. The stock busa's power curve tops out near redline instead of levelling off at 10,000 rpm like the 14. That may be irrelevant with a tune--I think the 14 makes best power pretty close to redline after a tune, too. Busa Has a different sound to the exhaust. A groan compared to the 14's yell. OIl changes are a lot of work and messy but not bad once you get the hang of it. You need to remove the fuel tank to get out the air filter. Fairings are a PITA. I like the twin injectors but no real advantage to that that I can see. A PC can't control both sets of injectors so I think Bazzaz is the way to go for fuel management. Stock pipes are better sounding than the 14s but nothing compared to an aftermarket pipe. Engine revs quicker in N but after switching to a full system both bikes equal. Busa uses less gas. Also has a replaceable fuel filter in the line. I think the stock suspension is a lot better in the busa. clutch is easier to pull. A little thinner between the legs than the 14.
That's about it. Sum it up and I think the busa is a bit sportier in stock config. That's sportier feeling, I mean. I don't think either bike is faster until you start to mod and then they start to equalize.
Now on that cornering, I'm just about done installing new tires on the busa. The stockers were 6 year sold and I had very little confidence in them. I'll have a better idea of how good the busa feels in a lean compared to the 14 in a few days.
