Not that it's my place to comment here but an old work boss who was and still is a close friend taught me a great lesson a while ago.
We were talking about an upcoming football game where my team was playing his. We both had no doubts that our own teams would win and so decided to bet on the game. I suggested $50.
He said "Relax mate. I take little pleasure handing over money if I lose and even less taking money off a mate if I win".
So he suggested no money changes hands but the bet would be for a counter lunch at one of our local pubs (around $15) and most importantly bragging rights to the winner.
I've gone this way ever since because I really agree with the principles at play here...

But I'm sure you guys will now go and put $10,000 on this matchup anyway.

The drama usually starts when the guy who has been racing for 20+ years gets run over by the guy who has only been riding for 6 years. Not to mention the first three were spent on a 600. One of my favorite victories was against a 70" 08 GSXR 1000 ridden by a guy who has been in the local grudge scene before I was in kindergarten. He was so shameless that he actually asked for the back tire AND the break through the freaking 1/8! Every one at the track said I was crazy for taking the race on a stock wheelbase bike but I knew that it was a lose lose situation for him. We put up the money and got in the lights. Lo and behold I went around him just before the 660' and completely devastated him and his entire camp. CRICKETS! To this day he just shakes his head and smiles when he sees me and says "Mane I still ain't forgot that". The sad thing is that I only went a 5.88.

at the next event you really need to come over here and start a chat with the crews at the starting line . it be like flies on dead meat and 10 guys wanting to race you in no time . they don't care what you bring but money . I saw one of the local grudge racers having a bad day at the track with his bike not running right. they seen it and was on him like flies in the pits and at the starting line poor dude had to go home. they all wanted a race while the guy was down.

last event I also seen 1 of our local racers cut three .000 perfect lights . he cuts a lot of .000 lights. he suckers betting racers that he will cut 3 lights and add all three together against to your 1 light . and who has the lowest reaction time wins

sometimes . but unless you can run a 4.50 you don't have nothing for some these sportsmen . a 4.62 in the finals won the heads up class last event .

I really don't remember but why you hating that's the heads up class buddy. they don't care about nothing but the ET AT THE END . I saw another bike time at a pass event there last year run a 4.12. And yes he breaks that bike out when the purse gets big.
