9.93@146.71 with a c rappy 1.90 60 ft time
04/20/14 7:28 AM

Made some passes yesterday. Best 9.93@146.71 with a c rappy 1.90 60 ft time.

I ran a bunch of 10.0's-10.20's.

Track was slick and I had to abort several runs.

I am getting used to the power wheelies in 1-3 gears. I think I may be going through the 1/8 mile on the back tire.

I ll have to pull some time slips.

My best 60 ft was a 1.77 and I had to abort that run because I got really sideways with tire spin after the 100 ft mark. There was water seeping up through the track. They had to prep it several times throughout the day when I was there. And I was only there for an hour and 45 mins.

Best 1/8 I believe was a 6.8x @ 116 mph. I ll have to double check that though.

I am having a heck of a time 60 ft the bike. I am easily losing a half second on the front half.

I am going to order a tooth down in the rear to see if I can control the wheelie problem. I want to keep the bike swb and see how fast I can go before I put a bolt on stretch to it.

I strapped the bike in the front 1" ( strapped it ) and lowered it 1 1/2 in the back. I am getting closer to being flat footed that way. But I have to watch the oil pan as the track has some really big dips and a shitty return road. I get on the brakes HARD and I can make the first return road turn off. The second one is a ways down and its SHITTY. There are times on my turbo bike that I felt like I was going to be thrown off the bike when I hit the large dips on the shut off road.

I am coming out of the hole at 3000 ish rpm and I believe I have the clutch out before the 60 ft marker and I am rolling the throttle on. I am trying to get the clutch out faster, but it was hard with wheel spin and the track not being up to par at the moment. Honestly I don't think I am getting the throttle pinned in first gear. And I think when the wheel is coming up, I am trying to keep it low with throttle and I haven't gotten the smooth factor of keeping the wheel down by rolling off the throttle a touch. I am usually coming down fast and a little hard, not bad, but a few times it came down hard and unsettled me. I think those were my 10.20-10.40 runs. The front wheel is coming up around the 200 ft mark I am guessing. I don't have any side video footage, I went to the track by myself. I wish I had someone there to give me some input. I can get it to set down and then shift into second and the wheel comes back up around 100 feet or so after I shift ( again an assumption on my part ). It comes up just as easy and fast as first gear. Third gear I can feel the front wheel skipping , and I don't mind that, but I know I am losing et off the 1st and 2nd gear wheelies. I am also just making 4th gear at probably the 1000-1100 ft mark.

I made 22 passes in an hour and 45 mins. So the bike didn't cool off that much. But it never went above the normal heat range, and with it being 50 degrees that helped. I would have liked more cool down time, but I wanted to get some seat time and put some numbers down.

I am happy with 9.9x and especially with the almost 147 mph trap. My front half needs to be worked on, because obviously the back half is what is making me get a decent number and trap. Obviously a 1.9x 60 foot tells the story that I can't get out of the hole. I think if I can get some 1.6x 60's I ll see a much needed improvement in the rest of the front half and obviously the back half will pick up as well.

I think I am going to get another oil pan and see about modding it. Is there any links with good pictures to show this? Or hell maybe I ll just machine a new oil pan myself. That way I can lower it even more and I think that will help me out a touch also.

Also I made a run in the far lane and it was really wet after the water box. and not from peoples cars dripping water up, just from seepage through the asphalt. The track is built on a swamp......so I stayed in the near lane and made all my runs till I started having tire spin and moved back to the far lane and made my last 4-5 passes and that lane seemed to produce faster runs for me.

I made a 10.11 run at 145.7x and I bounced the limited in 1st gear, but the entire run was probably my best run of the day as far as my control of the bike. I think that would have been a easy 9.9x run or maybe even faster if it wasn't for that bounce on the limiter.

In my last post a lot of people mention the factory power levels or settings. I have a 2008 , so I don't have any of the traction controls or levels.

I rode 123 miles to the track and back.

All in all for being the second time out on a Gen 1 and to be in the 9's with minimal seat time I am happy. I just need to get more seat time and get that 60 ft down. I think if the track was prepped a little better I would have seen some 1.75-78 60's, so I know I would have atleast been seeing an improvement with the small changes I was making.

Don't worry about that traction control. It would only hold you back. I lost 3 full tenths when I tried playing around with that junk. Your throttle and clutch control will solve the wheelies. I remember thinking when I first started riding this bike that it would be near impossible to make a full power 1-2 shift, but now its not even an issue. My personal best 60' is a 1.50 and that was NOT by getting the clutch out of my hand ASAP. These stock wheelbase bikes don't follow the same rules as the handicap bikes. (JK stretch guys dont flame me :) ) You HAVE to burn that clutch on out there to utilize ALL of the power. Trust me.

I am really going to work on my 60 ft and getting the clutch and throttle worked out. The bike has enough guts to go fast, I just need to make it happen.
