Thank You Mother Tea
05/14/16 9:11 PM

I would like to thank every last person involved with the ZX14's design, all the way to the dealer's floor. This bike continues to outperform my expectations. It was yesterday that became my 3rd crossing over to my lane day. Maybe he didn't see me, was on the phone, yelling at baby, passenger, eating something, you name it, I don't care how it comes, this little baby is one ambulance ride short of squirting in my pants... I love the street action!

A perfect rpm for 6th gear under highway speeds. I happened to be at those speeds when these have occurred. Rather than brake hard for these occurrences, or say by the time this is all going down, your front tire might be clipped by that timing. You're constantly moving to the left and into another lane. Your timing is ticking down so there was no time to look back to see if you were going to be rear ended. You have time for so little time to think and then react to the situation.

If I'm at speed, my lane is still open and all I can say is; this one was a plumbing truck I mean a huge one, not a van. As it's now in my lane to cut me off I begin to brake? That's not how I play with my reactions. I play the odds of losing the front end is not me. All I remember was a glance over at his door, his high cargo box starting at the end of the door.

All this time I'm in 6th and that was scary close seeing this right next to me. So, should I brake at this point and I'm seeing that white lane close off under me? WOT would I do now? Why I'd turn up the kettle, see what mother tea has behind coroner's freezer door number 2? Empty! Just think if I was ON ANOTHER BIKE???!!!

Of course I was already nailing it when the rear bumper was going to meet me there I brake for it? Not when you have some tea perking, not boiling.

Like the jaws of a shark being that close and about to bite. A bulldozer blade coming at you as it keeps up with you, or a garbage compacter piston about to...

There's a lot of that this time of year in the colder climates. Bikes are just coming out of storage and I imagine cages are not looking for them. Maybe riders are not attuned to watching for potential hazards as much, either. I had a similar experience a year or two back at this same time of year. A semi was signalling and pulling into the far left lane right where I was. In a car, I would have run onto the shoulder but not on the bike. I think the idea of braking flashed through my head but my reaction was to screw open the throttle and shoot away. That was a wake up call for the driver too, I'm sure.

I've become the wimp rider in my old age. Stay in right lane, let everyone pass, do the speed limit. More like the insurance co upped my payment for a ticket. So this month I've come across 2 movers into my lane. A week or so ago, a 2 lane merges into a 3 lane, so the driver wants what now turns into my middle lane, I see it from the peripheral, squirt away in 6th, switch to the slow lane, and that person never passed me the whole time, me traveling 65mph for 20 or so miles. I could see the black car back there. Never do I flip them off, slow down and stay even with the vehicle. What for? I live for it!

Yesterday a right lane blends into a double lane off ramp. So the next lane to the left becomes the slow lane, or the option to shoot up the ramp with the second off ramp lane, or go straight. The lane already has the short lines that say this lane only for the exit ramp. So this time, I see it coming by the time the car is door to seat next to me. Same old 6th gear torques away, I see a gap in the next lane, so I'm already in the high 70's, swing to the left, dart up to get away from the idiot, hit the slow lane again, little baby comes thru like keep them coming! <<< My concentration face.

Oh, and I should video the rear as I slow down to time the lights. I keep the feet up and go as slow as I can. Cars in the back stay way back when I do this. Not only is it balance practice, your odds of getting rear ended is take the bet.

I cannot believe the number of folks who, on a four lane divide, can see the traffic lites half mile ahead, STILL rush past me ( I am in the slow lane timing the lites ) only to be sitting at the lite when it turns green and I cruise past ...

Somethings will never change and unfortunately cages screwing with us motorcyclists is definitely in that category.

I admire your self control Hub.
Even though I know it will achieve nothing except perhaps create a major issue, I cannot help but let idiots know thats exactly what they are.
I never kick mirrors off or touch any car, but I certainly let them know what I thought of their ineptitude.

Definitely not the right way, but it goes some way to resolving the issue for me...

So Yanman. While you're catching up to 'let them know',and are venting right next to em in moving traffic.suddenly you catch a small shadow...a glimpse of something in your lane's shoulder. As you look up,you wake up in Hospital.Totally confused about what just happened.Nevermind your Aprilla is now totalled and sitting on the back of a wrecker truck.
Then you realize laying there, you can't lift your arms or legs.

Might want ta reconsider hassling someone who probably just didn't see ya.Karma and all that ya know. Luv ya Kruz...hope this new bike is gonna be ridden in 40 years or more!

I believe I qualified my statement with "Definitely not the right way", but never the less rather extreme Green.

I understand where you are coming from and you are correct.
But if you are looking at things that seriously, perhaps stay away from riding motorcycles because the dangers are there for the same result you mention whether you vent at cars or not...

The point was..if you're preoccupied with something that's already happened, then everything in front and to the sides is virtually non existent ahead.
And btw,no one knows what kind of person is in that cage.Maybe they've had it up to here with bikes.Wouldn't be the first time a cager killed a biker confronting him.

"But if you are looking at things that seriously, perhaps stay away from riding motorcycles"...lol.I just like to lower the SURPRISE that all bikers face a some point.
I guess paying attention to what's ahead takes a back seat to making sure that cage gets the point.."I'm angry at you,ya dumbass".

I just don't ride like that.So someone pulls out. There ya are, having to brake and maybe swerve a bit.THEY MUST PAY!lol.

'Terrible that cager scared me.How dare him..'
