Having chased its twin around the track at Cresson on my CBR I've been wondering all along why this bike wasn't at the top.

Nice stable of ponys.

It takes me a long time to gel with a new machine wheelpeel, typically several thousand miles of backroad scratching before I really begin to trust the setup. One of the reasons I am so comfortable on the ZX-6R, '11 ZX-10R and ZX-14, I've been riding them for many years and they now fit me like a glove, the new 10R really is starting to click though and it is the strongest of all my bikes on top end. I have a lot of hope for the Repsol Honda SP, I think I am moving in the right direction on setup but am going to try a few more suspension tweeks to get the rear end to settle in, I may have gone too stiff on the compression and rebound and need a little more ride height to finish off the corners.

How can the new 10R have more top end than the 14?

I think I need to go look for some 10 vs 14 smackdowns on youtube

Meantime, scroll to 4:05 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfY4yyFmNuM

Edit: You can sell all but the Big 14 now Watch from 4:25 to 7:15 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4ep4uIxhtY

... then the post-ride discussion from 7:45 to end: "... the ZX10 ... as you saw from the roll on tests it really does get beaten into submission ..."

They say they don't care that the H2 isn't actually faster than the 14, that it's good enough that it feels like it is HAHA. And the very end when letting each guy say which bike he'd choose, they all obviously wanted to say the 14, but had to earn their paychecks and go with Kawi's latest greatest HAHA.

Hoo Boy, way too many variables involved here to get into a discussion, a sixth gear roll on test with a 400cc displacement advantage and stock gearing is a joke I'm afraid, if you are going to do rollons you need to start with the same speed but each bike in a gear that puts it close to it's torque peak. The ZX-10R is very long legged in the gearing department, 106 mph in first gear at redline while my ZX-14 is about 80 mph at redline. Also, noticeably absent was a track test, ZX-10R is going to smoke both of these bikes on a track. There's a reason Johnny Rea rides a ZX-10R in WSBK competition.

Here's a 2013 ZX-14R rolling on against an older 2011 ZX-10R, the 14 pilot even gets to rollon first and the ZX-10R still runs him down and passes. You can find plenty of Youtube vids that could make the case for either machine, again, way to many variables.

@1wheelpeel, where are you? Cresson is about 1 1/2 hour Southwest of me.

Do you ever ride out this way, I'm just north of McKinney?

I feel like we've been done this road before, with the flashes.

All I need is some sort of believable proof. Until then all I have to go on are the roll-on races I've seen online which makes the H2 and the 14 look to be about the same.

Hogwash.

This entire thread is litre-loving hogwash.

This forum is borne of big-block worship and this thread, with its overt do-catty malfeasance, should justify banishment of the threads author.

The entirety is detestable and I shall not render countenance.

Good day, sir.
I SAID GOOD DAY.

Cresson is an all weekend thing if we do it. Its almost 3hrs due east for us. I'm about 1.5hrs south of Terrell.

McKinney is actually closer than Cresson. lol

Negative Good Sir, me thinks thou dost protest too much!

The ZX-14 is such a robust specimen and it's many worthy attributes so well established, it bears no further mention, it's all been covered before.

I disagree! I enjoy continuing to read how the ZX14 stacks up to any and all competition. I keep waiting for something to come along for the street that really beats it, really intrigues me to wanna buy it and sell the big ol' 14. Hasn't happened yet. And nuthin looks to be on the horizon. Which is good for the bank account ... but makes me kinda sad Has the street motorcycle design reached its peak? Will the next great thing be a hover something?

Haven't posted on here in awhile, been too busy out riding these beautiful machines while we still have this awesome fall weather Dallas is known for.

All the bikes are now setup well, the Repsol Honda was the last to get tweeked and everyone of them is now incredible on their new race rubber.

Right now though, the '11 ZX-10R wins the overall by just a smidgeon over it's brother, the '16 ZX-10R. I just came back in from a ride on the '11 and it was one of the best rides of my life. This bike just doesn't do anything wrong. I don't even have to think about what the suspension is doing or whether it's turning in well, etc., it's just so fluid and effortless everywhere. The '16 version has slightly better brakes, equal handling prowess and more top end hit but it's relatively soft low end relegates it to second position by a hair's breadth.

Da Champ!

The Runnerup!

OK so your FIFTH OLDEST bike is the best one ... SEVEN years old ... and meaning all of these newer bikes are inferior:

2016 ZX-10R KRT
2016 959 Panigale Red
2015 CBR1000RR SP Repsol
2012 CBR 1000RR Red

Seems hard to believe, but you're the boss, boss

Not track based assessment but rather on the backroads I ride, Yessir that is the way it is settling out as they sit now. Again, I have no way of comparing corner speed and lap times without data logging, strictly subjective.
Maybe there is a reason Tom Sykes preferred the old ZX-10R to the new iteration, team mate Johnny Rea likes the new one and it's hard to argue with his recent success.

I was splitting hairs on these two but what settled it was doing my normal backroad ride and noticing how I could have kept going all day on the '11 as it's so easy to ride fast while the '16 was literally wearing me out with the brutal top end hit.

The '16 is thrilling though, the '11 is not bland by any means, just much smoother linear power.
