Fairing protection
08/16/16 9:10 PM

The Nose of my Fairing is getting rock chips. My Paint seems to be very thin. Has anyone added protection to the Nose? I was thinking 3M Invisible film or maybe an Aluminum piece shaped with double sticky tape.
Any ideas or solutions?

I'm pretty sure someone makes like the 3M invisashield because my 06 has it. I'm not the original owner, it was on the bike when i bought it. It must be a whole bike kit because it is on the fairing and sides of the tank and also on the rear seat cowl.

Vinyl would work. That is about the most difficult place to apply vinyl wrap but it should do the trick. My 08 has stripes there. You will need to use a hair dryer to stretch a flat piece over the the point of the nose. You also will need to trim the edges which is not easy if you have not had some experience cutting film. Usea brand new Xacto blade. Try to place masking tape under the edge temporarily while you cut. Vinyl is very tough. You need to go right through it more or less. Scoring will not work. Would be easy to scratch the clear coat while cutting.

I had all of the paint on my bike coated with Ceramic Pro. Its a coating that is applied to the surface and actually acts as another layer(s) of clear coat. It adds great scratch and chip protection and adds depth to your paint too. It also makes cleaning a breeze, almost nothing sticks to the paint. Bugs and dust wipe away with little to no effort and water beads right off! Google ceramic pro and check it out. I would highly recommend it.

2010 Candy Persimmon Red, PC5 w/switch, flies out, BMC filter, Brock's clutch springs, OSR cut pan, PSR links & kick stand, Roaring Toyz extensions - 6.5" over, black stainless lines, ZG double bubble, 2012 header with m4 slip ons all ceramic coated, paint protected by Ceramic Pro. Second fan, liquid performance coolant.
