Hey guys,

I have a 2008 ZX14 that is not charging. I took the motor out to do a valve check, sealed and put back on the frame. This bike had not problems before. Now it's not charging for some reason. I put all plugs back to where they go. changed the battery, rectifier, and stator and still no charging. I rode it for 4 miles and switch the screen to the volts section and watched my voltage go from 13 to 9 until the screen started flickering got home and it shut off. to turn it on i have to jump it. I hope I didn't mess something else up bu jumping it with cables from my car. I test the rectifier and stator and they give me readings like the manual say. I don't know what else to do next. I will start it up and check the left plug on the rectifier to see if it has 50v like the manual says to see if it's the rectifier or alternator depending on the readings. I have check all plugs and still nothing. I have taken off the TRE, the turbo, the bike is stock only has a Bazzaz unit. If anyone can help I'll appreciate it. thanks Wilson

are all your fuses ok? I will check the manual and see if the input side of the regulator has overload protection.

I looked... the only fuse on the charging circuit is a 30 amp "main" fuse right off of the positive terminal of the battery.
If that was blown i dont think you would have power anywhere.

Did i read your post correctly... you replaced the battery and the regulator and the stator?

Is it possible that new battery rectifier or stator are defective?

well i opened the stator cover and saw the stator two different colors, half brown and half tan. When i put it in it didn't look like that. I unplugged it and tested it out with the meter like you said above. one end to the stator plug and the other i touched the frame and the meter registered 0.00 then untouched the frame and went back to 1. it does them for all three. when i touch the the two multimeter prongs together they change to 0.00 and when I take them apart they go back to 1. I also place the other stator I had taken out and made sure all was good and nothing was pinched and it does the same thing when i probe it with the meter.

all fuses are good. and yes I replaced the stator, the rectifier and brand new battery

This my bike diagram. I see the white wire but no orange?

I think what happened was that the battery went dead and I got some jumper cables and jumped the bike with my car turned on and left it hooked to the bike for at least 5 minutes to get some good charge. every where I read it says that it will fry the charging system or stator. I didn't know this but in reality it make sense since cars push out 1400v compared to the 14.1 the bike try to maintain. Will have to get another stator and see whats up. guess I will get a use one from ebay to see if that keeps the charge up. I know the rectifier is good since it gave me correct readings with the multimeter. All the wire are good, so the only option that I see is that stator that is half way brown and Tan, and I remember that when I installed it the one I took off was that way.

NEVER start the car if you are jumping a bike. Causes all sorts of electrical demons.
