Front Balancer Seal
04/24/14 3:24 PM

Hello my name is Tom. I have been a long time lurker on the site and finally signed up. I have an 08 ZX-14 with 16,000 on the dial. I have a question about the front(top)balancer oil seal. Can you replace this seal from the outside without cracking the case? I have searched the interwebz and shop manual and have not been able to find no information on this. With all the knowledge here I thought you all would be able to help me out. Thank you

There are two seals:
1. One goes straight across and is flat to push in/pull out.
2. The other has a lip at the end.

SEAL-OIL,TC 12X22X7
92049-2204

Buy this seal. If it has a lip = Split cases.
No lip = Use a wood screw, long shaft/phillips head. File/grind to a point. Hit the seal in the middle of face or the wide part between the case and shaft. This hole punching is now to turn the screw in with the phillips head and make sure the bite is tight. Take a vice grip, snug down on the screw and hammer straight out is the head of the vice grip.

Lube inner seal, yamabond the outside seal. Find a deep socket to go over the sea and protruding shaft and push new seal into place. It all sounds easy.
