Keith Code's Track School or Yamaha Track school?
05/03/16 1:32 PM

I've been to the track a few times but never attended a track school. Looking to book a 2-day instructional class sometime soon but haven't quite decided which school to enroll. I read 'Wolfman's Yamaha School review but that was an ancient thread from 2011. Wondering if it's still as good? I think that's when the started. Or enroll with Keith Code's school. I think it's a small difference in price between the two.

Thoughts? anybody else took these classes?

Keith's approach is more cerebral and the yammy school is more mechanical. That's more how I see it.
School says to line up and take this turn. Keith would more say why you are at this position than over here and why this is the better line. Something like that.

I haven't been in either but have two friends who both went thru the 2 day Cal super-bike class at Laguna Seca with supplied BM S1000RR and they both loved it. One friend has several Dukaki's including a big Pani R and a Supra Legra and the other one has an MV R4. Maybe some day .....

Well an update here. I enrolled on the two-day course at Keith Codes' CSS and I' so glad I did. Learned a ton there and improved my skills and BP big time. Their training curriculum was organized and thorough. The day was spent in classroom instruction, track time and you get plenty of time then one-to-one coaching.

I decided to go there because of their almost 40 years experience with track training instruction so it was a no-brainer. I looked into the Yamaha school and I'm glad it didn't go there. Not for nothing, I saw a video where the instructor and students were in a van together following a rider? Come on you have to be kidding me in a van? Use a damn video experience which is what KC school does to demonstrate proper technique.

Saw a Yamaha track training video on You Tube where they take the students in a van on the track? what the heck?..we did it on our bikes with tailing the coaches.

Don't dismiss that van ride so lightly. I learned more during that ride than in several years of trackday riding on my own...

Still, they don't have Ken Hill any longer, as far as I know. Big loss for them... -bg

You should be practicing your lines while driving. Been doing it for decades no matter how many wheels, no matter how shallow the turn. It becomes routine for the rest of your life. At least for me it did. Lots of racing; transitioned quickly over to the driving chores. Straighten out the turns to become smoother [becomes] faster.

Yes, I see your points and they'll well taken. I guess folks have different styles of learning as well.
