Gen1 full exhaust - which sound best?
05/21/15 12:54 AM

Guys, I am looking for a full system for my 2007 ZX14 but it's hard to tell the difference between how they sound from youtube videos, so I thought I would ask you guys. I don't really want the whole suburb to hear me leaving for work at 5.00am but I would like to know the exhaust isn't holding the motor back much either. I heard one with Yoshi carbon slip-ons and I thought it was still pretty quiet. I saw a vid with an Alien Head fitted and it sounded like it had no muffler at all .... I would like a deeper/ lower note too if possible but if they all sound similar then I can't do much about that. So, what exhaust would you guys recommend?

The bike is all stock for now but it will get a flash/tune with the exhaust.

Any help would be great.

Brock's CT Meg. I remember when I got the exhaust and I looked at the muffler in the shipping box I thought "Oh Shit" I'm going to be attracting the wrong kind of attention everywhere I go. Surprisingly it has a nice deep mellow tone when just cruising around but has a really nice bark when you hammer on it. And it looks fantastic. Best aftermarket exhaust I've every had hands down.

So, what exhaust would you guys recommend?

Now this is a tuff one. Wallet depending of course go for the CT TI Brocks all the way.

Sound of absolutely screaming Race. Muzzy M-10. Muzzy always had that nice Deep Tone with a Fantastic price. They were Pipe shootout winner for you bike year. Even their Slip-Ons sound Good.

Look forward to some pics no matter what you decide.

I have a full Yosh stainless system. I often leave for work at 5am and the pipe is mellow at idle and low revs. Makes a nice deep tone at higher revs.

I think most of the cans (with the exception of those outrageous Voodoos) will let you sneak out of your neighborhood at low revs.

Love the sound of my Brocks CF Hindle full exhaust. As said above, I can slide out of the hood in the morning without too much trouble.

Thanks a lot guys, it is a tough question but I wanted to see what you guys thought. If you have any audio of these please post it up.

Wow rook, that thing doesn't even pretend to have a muffler ....

It has a tube of packing that leaves the center open for free flow. Easy remove with one screw. The cone comes off with three screws. I don't know how/if it affects performance but I want to try it once I get the knack of self tuning.

There is a noise reduction baffle available that slips down the tube of packing but it is more restrictive of course. I never tried it yet.

Here's one in the garage.

and here's one at almost 170. you still can hear the exhaust wailing over the wind. I think it would be good for 200.

and if that's not enough, here's a longer track one.

Quick video for OZ. Not the greatest camera but it works.

Thanks for the videos guys, I like them both. Now I just have to find a system at a decent price ... availability will probably determine which I end up buying.

That was a nice save rook, lucky not to crunch it.

Although my bike is a Gen 2 , the Alien Head sounds the same on the previous gen.

I really like my Alienhead 2 (2nd gen, though). I was worried that it would be too loud, but it really just sounds like it means business, without being obnoxious IMO.

If you can find one Sato racing makes an AWESOME full titanium system that can be had very reasonably. They have discontinued it but there are still a few laying around. That coupled with a CBlast flash, my '10 SE is plenty beastly for me and I love the exhaust sound, very deep tone just cruising around but absolutely howls when you nail on it! I have the all titanium oval can model but they made a round carbon can model as well.

Plus the sato is a high mount system and I'll be honest in saying I prefer that look. The link pipe kicks up directly behind the right side peg and then the can follows the tail section perfectly...I would normally say because race car here but umm because race bike maybe works better in this instance? You'd be hard pressed to find a crap full system these days and let's be honest a big displacement 4 with a full exhaust wailing sounds pretty good regardless of the manufacturer, get one you like dude!

I found a Sato high mount full Ti but its part of a package deal and I cant afford the whole package ....

Whats the difference between Yoshi TRC, R55 and R77 (other than look)?

I got the bike cheap so I dont want to overspend on the exhaust, now its a matter finding a well priced system
