Na, the 14 is more badass, the busa is prettier! That red seat has to go though. The busa feels a little more refined but it's not faster. Just read a thread at the org about a 2013 the guy could not get over 185 mph, top speed limiter flashed to OFF. So that's it. It won't do 200 without boost or maybe a gail force tailwind.

IDK how much those Brembos do for the brakes. I hear the 14's secret to ultimate brakes is the front master cylinder bore.

It's been so long since the 14 has been modded that its hard to compare but I remember thinking the busa was a better handling bike and smoother running engine. Less heat, more stock race features. If you'r going to mod, I don't think it matters at all which one you get. If you're an all OEM kind of guy, I guess I'd suggest busa. ...but first I'd consider the 14r for sure.

She is a pretty bike...very nice.Top speed 180+?That's okay.One thing I loved about my friend's busa...the shifting.

If you're looking for ease of access to things like 'oil changes'....you may be disappointed.

I was a Suzuki guy, when I sold my gsxr1000 I really wanted a busa. I looked for months and couldn't find a clean one for a reasonable price. When I came across my zx14 it was clean, low miles, priced fair and original owner so I bought it. I felt like a Suzuki guy riding a Kawasaki for quite a while but now there's no way I would go back. I love this bike, best bike I've owned for sure. But we all like what we like, so good luck with your search for the perfect busa.

One thing I loved about my friend's busa...the shifting.

I think the shifting might be smoother. I noticed that when both bikes were fairly new. Now I don't notice it so much. Still have the problem of getting the busa to go into 1 if I happen to not shift down as I roll to a stop. The 14 does that too but not as bad. The 14 just has to roll a few inches, the busa you need to let the clutch out slowly til you hear it click in.

Busa sure does run cooler. I like the radiator style oil cooler on the busa--that is a nice idea. Not as much heat on the legs and even the oil stays brown, not black til time to change.

Stock steering damper is a nice feature on the busa and so is the slipper clutch but I will prolly disable mine some day. Little more forward riding position ion the busa. Brakes--you can pull it to the grip and that is just about where it will lock up the front. I don't like the brakes. Have an aftermarket master cylinder waiting to go on her. The busa buzzes. NO crankshaft couterweights (or maybe a single instead of the 14's double?--less rotating mass) Its a nice buzz, I think. Feels very constant, steady. It's like a hummmmmm. kinda cool. The busa has plenty of lowend grunt like the 14 (busa actually makes a bit more torque and higher compression) but it seems to like to be ridden at higher rpm more than the 14. The stock busa's power curve tops out near redline instead of levelling off at 10,000 rpm like the 14. That may be irrelevant with a tune--I think the 14 makes best power pretty close to redline after a tune, too. Busa Has a different sound to the exhaust. A groan compared to the 14's yell. OIl changes are a lot of work and messy but not bad once you get the hang of it. You need to remove the fuel tank to get out the air filter. Fairings are a PITA. I like the twin injectors but no real advantage to that that I can see. A PC can't control both sets of injectors so I think Bazzaz is the way to go for fuel management. Stock pipes are better sounding than the 14s but nothing compared to an aftermarket pipe. Engine revs quicker in N but after switching to a full system both bikes equal. Busa uses less gas. Also has a replaceable fuel filter in the line. I think the stock suspension is a lot better in the busa. clutch is easier to pull. A little thinner between the legs than the 14.

That's about it. Sum it up and I think the busa is a bit sportier in stock config. That's sportier feeling, I mean. I don't think either bike is faster until you start to mod and then they start to equalize.

Now on that cornering, I'm just about done installing new tires on the busa. The stockers were 6 year sold and I had very little confidence in them. I'll have a better idea of how good the busa feels in a lean compared to the 14 in a few days.

Favor the busa? I guess for sport riding if it's stock v stock and you don't intend to mod. If you're going to mod, get either one that looks better to you. Actually, if I was going to buy a brand new hyper bike and leave it mostly stock, I'd get a 14r. The dif between the busa and the gen 1 14 is not much. My 14 with the lightweight wheels and the quickshifter and all the weight dropped off of it and the 45T rear sprocket is a lot racier feeling than the busa . The pipe is the same on both bikes. If I do similar mods to the busa, I expect the differences to be just about nada.

The busa flies are apparent in gears 1-3 and perhaps in the higher gears too (I have not taken note). I think full power comes on a bit later than it does on the 14. Same sort of feeling you get with the 14. I feel it only at mid-large throttle openings. If you simply pull the flies, the bike makes less peak horse power and it is noticeable, I'm told. You need to get a tune for timing and AFR to take advantage of removing busa flies.

The busa has a few cast parts that are nicer quality than the 14 which sometimes has a bent/cut steel part or just cut square like the stock brake/gear shift pedals and clamps that go onto the shafts. The busa dash panels give a nice finished look.

I have not begun to really dig into the busa but I think you can drop a lot more weight off the 14. ...and the busa is heavier from the start. Doesn't seem to feel heavier in handling but if you do all the weight loss mods on the 14, its a lot lighter and certainly feels it.

There is a gen1 busa..it came out in 1999. Gen2 is 08-present. I don't know how the gen 1 busa compares to my gen2.

The Busa is prettier? No way (unless you mean in a sissy sort of way..then you may have soething). Fron the rear it's fugly. From the front side it's not bad, but the headlight looks quite weird and out of place. Looks like headlight from a tourer.
