2018 Honda CB1000R Neo Sports Cafe
05/17/18 2:10 PM

OK the "Neo Sports Cafe" name part is a lil ghey ... but the bike looks awesome to me!

I foresee me owning one of those as soon as they're available and as soon as the MSRP has fallen some.

Anybody else like?

I have never, ever been into either the naked bike idea, or the cafe racer idea ... but I find myself liking the idea of a lighter, nimbler around town bike to jump on and scoot, especially when it looks this good.

Wait to see the specs too if you are expecting CBR performance. Remember the Z1000 was not a naked ZX10.

That is a cool looking bike though.

Rook ... Right, for sure. I'm reading so far it has something like 143 HP, up something like 15 HP from the previous CB1000R ... not bad but certainly no freight train rocket ship ZX14. And no CBR either. And I think that's OK ... not sure how smart soaring past 140 on public roads is anyway

I seem to remember my old 90's CBR900RR's had something like 118 HP, and they were fast as $#%^&.

I've been saying for a while there's no bike I'd rather have than the ZX14, and it is pure awesomeness ... but sometimes ya just get in a mood for a change ... even if it doesn't necessarily look like the smartest change to make HAHA.

"Its four-cylinder engine has been tuned to make 16% more peak power at just over 10,000rpm and 5% more torque right through the mid-range, where it’s most useful – and most fun. It is also 4% shorter geared, to extract even faster acceleration from the power-up. In fact through the first 3 gears, up to 130km/h (~80 mph) the CB1000R rides harder than the CBR1000RR. An assist/slipper clutch adds control."

Max torque is 104 Nm (76.7 ft lbs) at 8,250 RPM ... redline 11,500 & rev limiter at 12,000. ZX14R torque is ~113 ft lbs ... so pretty big difference there.

So it's not going to be ZX14 fast, and I wouldn't expect it to be. Its wheelbase is probably too short to handle ZX14 power anyway. Might be wheelie time on the CB!

I think it looks ok.I'd paint the engine 'silvers' with black though.Single sided swingarm.Pretty cool;)

Kinda funny ... I went on a CB1000R forum, found a couple threads about it, and it seems nearly unanimous that owners of the previous CB1000R don't like it and say they refuse to buy it HAHA.

I might ditch the rear fender assy and go with a tail tidy plate/signals mod.Otherwise, she's well styled.I like the shorter rear end.Really looks good Nice big tire on there.

Yannih ... HEY! You're right! And that happens to be a bike I like ... not enough to actually buy one, but there is something about it

I can get the quality and reliability of a Honda with the unique coolness of the Diavel. HMMM

Rudy - Yeah, I've seen that one too, and it's cool that mama Kow is remaking the old beast, but somehow it looks just too, um, old. It has not much in the way of modern, which I find myself preferring. Not bad, and I'd love to take one for a ride, but no desire to own.

"but somehow it looks just too, um, old"...yeah.Agree.The diavel is a partial rep of the Vmax. That Honda is a cool in between.

I'm with you Extrap.The diavel is very cool looking.But it's no ninja.Guess I'm spoiled.

For looks, I take the Diavel from axles down; CB1000R axles up. You could put a chin on the CB1000R and that would be a cool appearance mod. Custom fiberglass work for that. ...or some company will make one.
