So I've discovered that LSL sliders aren't available for models newer than 2011. I have a 2013. What do you guys suggest?

I no longer believe you should have sliders of any kind if you crash at speed. LSL was supposed to prevent frame damage but I recently heard from someone his 14 was totaled because of his LSL sliders. Crashed and engine mount busted off in a high speed slide.

You're probably more likely to drop the bike in the garage in which case, sliders should help a lot. I'd just get what is in expensive or looks cool to you. I don't believe there is any reliable slider for the 14 in a crash.

I'm not sure you need to cut fairings. You don't with the Gen1.

Normally sliders are my first mod. But after reading alot about the zx14r and sliders I decided I would pass. I low sided my SV and she said over 20 yards. Only the slider was damaged.

What Rook said, engine mount could be broken off, I will take my chances, plastics are cheaper and less hastle
than the alternative of breaking an engine mount ....

Just my 2 cents ... but have never had sliders on any of my bikes ..

What do you guys think of axle sliders ? would it even protect anything if you go down ?

I have them. Like the frame sliders, they're mostly for looks but if I crash, It sure seems like they would protect the axles and forks from dragging. I never crashed so IDK if the axles are likely to touch in a slide. Seems like they could.

I have the more expensive Chinese axle sliders from Ebay and they are good quality. The cheaper ones look fine to me, too. Check the bolts. i lost a rear axle slider going down the road.

How does the rear axle slider work with the cotter pin in the way?

You can't use the cotter pin. You may be able to if you flatten down the head or if you drill through the slider and insert through both the puck and the axle nut

It's not necessary. Torque it and it should stay. i have mine torqued lower than stock because I have aftermarket bearings that require less torque. Never had a problem with it coming loose. My busa does not even have a cotter pin but I think it is a special self gripping nut like the ones on the 14's sprocket.

anyway, if your axle nut came loose, the pull of the engine should hold it against your chain adjuster blocks. The axle slider also will help keep the axle nut from turning out because it bolts down against the axle nut.

I'm sure a pin of some sort is the safest. Hate to tell you to forget about it and leave the pin out but I have and never had trouble. I did have one puck come loose and fall off though. That was because I didn't have it tightened securely in the first place. I put the rod in the wrong way and it was sliding back and forth. I put a rubber grommet in to take up the slack and tightened against it. Thought it would hold like a well nut but , nope....long >short, the bolts were not tight enough. the rod was in backward. Fits good when installed properly. Use locktight on the ONE side. Loktite on both sides, you might not get it out. yeah, another bolt to check on the bike. I haven't ever found mine loose now that it is installed properly.

I just had a parking lot tip over and insurance picked up a $4100 dollar repair. I had to replace front, upper, lower, grill and rear fairings plus a piece of the rear subframe. The left mirror, bar end and rearset took a beating and were required to be replaced. Concrete chewed all of it up pretty bad. The bike was parked. I am installing a set of Phoenix Frame Rail Protectors so if this ever happens again (god forbid); the bike fairings might be saved. As for breaking motor mounts.... that's why I have great insurance.



Some junk & stuff on my bike and a hole in my head for riding it!

I'd rather bust a fairing than a motor mount. $250 deductible says it won't cost me much if I make a claim.
