New ZX14 owner
07/20/14 2:57 AM

Well 2 weeks ago I went down on some ice on my beloved ZZR1100. Regrettably a write off however out of adversity comes ................. A ZX14.

Yesterday I put a deposit on a 2010 ZX14 that I will pick up next Saturday. Already I have a few questions for the experienced owners.

Is it a DIY job to fit the center stand? Can you do the job with the bike on the side stand?
The bike is black and I intend to accent it either in green or red. Are their vinyl accents available for the "fins" on the side panels? How well do the wheel vinyls stay put?

Thanks

Sorry to hear about your 1100. Ice? LOL you are one serious rider! Grats on your new ZX, I too am new to the ZX-14R club and loving every minute of it. (Did my first WOT in 4th-5th yesterday...WOWWWWWWWWOOWOWOW)

As far as the Kawasaki center stand, it is self-installable in about an hour and comes with instructions. Beware if you have aftermarket exhaust it may not work or may require mods to it or other parts to work. I considered it but wasn't a fan because adding the weight and I'll likely put on an aftermarket exhaust at some point. I don't intend to use my Ninja for trips or anything that it might be helpful. Instead I bought an ABBA Superbike Stand for maintenance (link is to my Youtube review/demo).

Hi Trash. You can put a centerstand from a Concourse on the ZX but it requires you install the spring mount on the frame, ( a simple drilled and threaded hole) and if you have an aftermarket exhaust you may need a Brock's centerstand stop. The job is best done on a rear stand. You can also buy an aftermarket centerstand from Twisted Throttle.
It's a handy thing to have and if you are worried about the added weight you are on the wrong bike anyway.
