"Kruz I'm down to 489 lbs now and there is more to come."...okay Some,now...how bout the bike?

Not sure right now what I'm gonna do with mine.I do like the stock config.I had to again do some modding to the seat....I think now she's just where I need her in that regard. As for the other stuff...IDK.It's very tempting to do what you're doing.VERY.I may...if the prices are right.Trying now to find out about the exhaust mod.I really don't want to spend a possible 3K from Brock's or someone.Your setup is very nice.Could you steer me to whoever did yours?Guhl will flash mt stock bike...the only problem is that he's waiting for an owner to show up with their stock configed bike...so he can do the tuning and all the correct way for the stock exhaust.Could be a long wait...he doesn't know. But the flash for yours is already done...I just need the midpipe and exhaust config.Have no idea where to get the materials. The correct ones.Feel stranded up here.243 or so sounds really good, and the weight loss.Would love to have that kind of performance from my H2.

Hope yer riding is going GREAT!I know you really love this machine...me too.Haven't ridden my 14 since I got this bird. Now with the seat deal....most likely gonna be riding her all the time...she's that fun.

Stock H2 versus ZX-10R with bolt on exhaust. They're close, looks like they trade wins, second run the 10R wheelies, first run the H2 wheelies.

Kruz, what's interesting about this is the neutering and oh look, just a little burst blows by them. But he had to remove the muffler to gain a few feet? I know the guy looked pretty large on the bike, suited up weighs in too. I now wonder if they made a mistake and should have built the higher maintenance model as the only bike with some decent HP. Looks more like a sub lagging model all over again... here's our teaser bike $et at cha-ching!

Me thinks me waits for the next top model. Time flies and they are busy at it right now; as if just another day at the same old thing.

The H2R doesn't have these restrictions.Every sportbike has restrictions...they have to to be street legal.Kawasaki didn't mess up anything. It was built as a showpiece...the H2R first...then they wanted others to be able to experience the base performance. They built the H2.

Derestricting is a part of the ownership experience. On any of these new bikes. You can leave the H2 as is...it's still a fantastic street bike.Somefun is getting 243 horses at the rear wheel...and lost a bunch of extra factory weight.I doubt he's thinking 'what a letdown'.

It should be said...as Kruz pointed out...where DOES it fit?It wasn't designed as a track bike. They could have done that with a revist to their 10 R line....that's not what they wanted. This bike is not for everyone. This bike was the inspiration of a Kawasaki founder.HIS dream. It wasn't built to win at the circuit. It was built for roadgoing riding...like the 14.

Thousands of guys complained that the 14 wasn't able to handle at the track...in spite of it's motor.Well...it wasn't DESIGNED to rail at the track...though it does okay for as big as it is.But that's not what it was built for.

It wasn't built to kill the 1000's,or the 600's in the twisties on the weekends.

This bike isn't a track bike.It isn't a carver like a 430 lb sportbike.It's a roadbike.Classic Kawasaki engineering...for the road riders.

This bike wasn't a mistake. If you stack it up against the typical 1000 bikes coming out....it isn't gonna rail like they do.Simple as that really. It is what it is.Not what some 'think' it 'should' be.It's exactly as designed, like it or not.Getting her flashed to remove the restrictions makes it that much more an incredible motorcycle, for roadriding.Losing the weight of the cans will make her that much more of a fun bike.

There's been no mistake from Kawasaki. The few people that own this bike know this already.Just sayin'.

Grn it sounds like you are having fun and that's what counts, enjoy that new ride. Yes, you'll have to make it down this way someday, I've extended an invite to Rook already to come down for a visit. Lot's of fun, twisty roads here but few places to really top out your bike, although I know one spot.

I dunno what Kawi's stated goal was for the H2 and H2R, but the last 10 - 15 years of liter bikes has been pretty boring, IMO: "Nice 'new' liter bike, but it's not enough better to get me to trade mine in." The FZR 1000 and then the '98 R1 were liter bike milestones, but from there they've been mostly minor tweaks, again in the opinion of this non-racer. I was starting to feel like they were out of ideas. Like the best times were behind us. So maybe Kawi just wanted something all new. And I think they did that. The two downsides to me: 1) Price, and 2) I feel like it should be walkin' the dog on that Beemer.

GR the bike was great stock for sure……even know I had only put 180 miles on it before I started the modding. What can I say I have issues? ? So after the mod the weight savings is big time you can really feel it for sure. I’m pretty sure I should be able to save another 6 to 15 minimum. I would say the best thing about the mods is now she really breaths and is not capped off. The torque is always there when you want it. That’s the best part about this bike I think. the top end is unreal for sure and honestly I’ve only been about to bring her up to about 11,500 or 12,000 RPMS and she still has another 1,800 to go up to 13,800….. I run outta room here in CT pretty quick. She brakes great and handles very well. Not as good mind you as my ZX10R with the super lightweight stuff that I’ve done to her but then again I don’t need to run in a few gears lower to pull hard on the H2 either…. They are two totally different bikes in my eyes and really should never be compared because they were both built with different purposes in mind. That’s like super charging a Camaro and putting it up against a 911S4….Just different.
As far as my pipe mod I cut the cat off myself and bought a 3’ length of 316 stainless steel tubing and cut a short 4” section and had that welded to the collector. I had a custom fab shop called Bullet Customs make the link pipe on their mandrel bender and the slip on is an Akropovic from a 2011 ZX10R. Total I’m into it for about $850.00. It looks factory for sure and sound’s great!

There was a good article on this phenomenon in Cycle World back about 6 months ago, The Law of Diminishing Returns as it pertains to modern sportsbike development, e.g., it takes an ever increasing amount of R and D dollars invested to realize an ever decreasing amount of increased performance margin. Except in the area of advanced electronics, TC, wheelie control, quick shift etc. the performance gains have been minimal. With the exception of no electronics, the 2005 K5 GSXR1000 is still considered to be one of the best of that line and that was almost 10 years ago that it hit the market. I would venture to say that by just adding a suite of modern electronics to that bike and maybe newer brakes, you'd have a very competititve machine.

I don't know if you've noticed but while the HP of the literbikes creeps up year after year, the torque hasn't kept pace. Bikes like the S1000RR achieve big HP numbers with stratospheric rpms, 13,800 I believe in the case of the BMW, with scantly any increase in torque over what we were seeing a decade ago. this high rpm power is only accessible on the track, for street it makes little sense.

Maybe this is what KHI had in mind all along when they came up with the concept of the H2/H2R, the big performance gains of the past are over with regards to NA engines and supercharging may be the only way forward if we are to continue to see power gains that are useable on the street.

Kruz that's just what I'm saying also.... Look I love the fact that this thing puts out crazy HP but the amount of time I'm up above 10,000 is like 2%......Don Guhl was looking at having a set of new super charger gears made so the boost would come in sooner and more of it then dump it up top so to not over boost her. this would be great for the street! Give me that mad low end & Mid power!!!!

I'm not looking forward to taking the frontend and all off...looks like a lot of work....

G it's not that bad just take ur time... The part that got me was I had all the aliens out and it still wasn't coming off.... You need to pull from the top where the mirrors are. The fairing kinda pops over the mirror brackets if that makes any sense.....
