GRN

During the week the road is empty, even empty I'm just cruising for fun. I've never been near that road on the weekend. That last curve where all of the squids crash into the guard rail is a decreasing radius and the apex is off camber too. If you dont know the snake and just show up and think you are going to shred it like Hub you will end up in Rnicky's vids

Not a big difference, but added a little pop ... in fact maybe so little difference I'll delete this. What can I say, the orig pic is pretty good to start with

I remember reading an article in the Motorcyclist magazine ages ago where one of the photographers was talking about a "trick" he did when taking pictures of racers on the track. He said that he would use a slightly longer shutter delay (ISO?) in order to have a slight blurring of the wheels as it gives more of a visual feel of speed than one where everything is perfect and sharp.

and you make your camera follow the vehicle rather than fixing it on one spot. Motion blur is what I was going for in yannih's pic, but I couldn't get it looking much more than the orig pic.

Took these photos a couple of weeks ago. Some guys I work with. Very nice bikes but what I cannot wrap my head around is the no helmet riding. Even if I rode one of those I would still wear one. To each his own

'Even if I rode one of those I would still wear one'...the illusion of safety. Not wearing one on a Harley that is.

Gearing up with helmets and leathers can give people
a false sense of security and they then tend to ride
more aggressively and crash more.

The difference is out of the actual crash numbers
helmeted riders have a lower injury rate, but not
wearing gear can actually lower your accident rate.

I have been down 3 times, twice in college on an old pos suzy 450 and once on the '06 14. Each time I wacked my helmet good but was not hurt. NFW im getting on a bike without full gear. I have friends around here that have both sport bikes and nice big HOGs. On the sport bikes they are in full gear, on the HOGs is barley legal brain buckets and full pirate attire, maybe a Harley jacket without armor if its cold. They tell me its just the style thing on the HOGs, like ape hangers. The ape hangers make no sense at all but its the style and look they are going for.

Helmet with tinted shield?

That's one of those statements that sounds perfectly logical, but you aren't gonna catch me with less than a helmet, jacket, and gloves ... and nearly always boots and riding jeans too.

Ha.... I think you are right. My brain just did not plug that in for some reason.

Helmet with tinted shield is correct Piken. I use the helmet hooks quite often. Your comment earlier makes sense about riding more aggressively while suited. I know that feeling well.

I am with you extrapolator, gloves, helmet, boots, jeans, but not always a riding jacket. I know I should but it gets pretty hot here in the summer and I don't have one for the warmer temps here. It is on the "need to purchase" list though. The two I originally purchased a couple of years ago got tore up (backside) by the wind shear. Need to spend more on a better brand.

I have been down a couple of times also cruderudy. Both times it could have been much worse for me if I had not had my helmet on. Got caught in a blind spot and was pushed into the curb and I dove off. Passerby's who stopped told me I was doing cartwheels at 45 m.p.h. (I can agree with that because I sure remember it). Fully geared up but I did crack a couple ribs when I hit the ground and my left elbow went into my chest. Other then that, not a scratch. $2,000 in bike damages, all cosmetic. I did use all OEM parts for replacements, expensive but the only way to go IMO. Lesson Learned.

The other time was in my first month of owning the 14. Took a cloverleaf exit and hesitated to lean (trust issue). Ended up upside down against a road sign, bike jumped the curb and slid on the grass. Fully geared up, no injuries. Today that same turn I take at a higher speed because I now trust its capabilities.

BTW - my name is Lee. I have been a Heavy Equipment Operator for nearly 40 years now. I don't think that there is a piece of machinery out there that I have not operated. "doz" is short for dozer, "koz" is part of my last name. Hence - doznkoz

I can't imagine riding without a helmet. To each their own but I think you gotta be nuts.

those riding without helmet probably do so because they don't have a brain to protect...
