I am black, never been to jail, have two children, both graduated HS, one as Senior Class President, and the other as Senior Class Vice President. One is a Chemical Engineer, the other is still in college. Me, well, let's just say I have a work history of over 35 years. Not all people of a certain color are ass holes. You see the city closed down a few Jr. HIGH Schools. My idea was take the women on welfare and have them work in the fields and at night go to school to get an education. The older ladies on welfare could take care of the kids/babies while the mother's worked and went to school. BOTH would EARN their monthly pay. The dead beat dads would also have to work and go to school at night, IF THEY DID NOT HAVE A JOB. Simple, work the fields, pay for your child/children, or go to jail not to be cool but to work. This could be work in the fields.

In my eyes everyone wins. Get paid, get an education, move off welfare, contribute to society.

As time went by the Mexicans started coming and working the fields. See, in the 1970's finding a job was EASY.
Blacks got out of the fields and worked blue collar jobs, the Mexicans worked the fields. In the 1980's the oilfields hired like mad. You could work for one company and have another offer to pay you a dollar an hour more to come and work for them the next day. Money was there to be made. Lots of folks worked. Then the drilling stopped, the housing market came to a stop. Everything turned upside down, in my part of the world. Jobs were lost.

Back on track. In the later 1990's I came up with a solution for aliens. Fine the employer $25,000 per person. PERIOD. Get caught a second time, put the Owner in jail.

I surmise our society and economy would be vastly improved if everyone had "pull your own weight" drilled into their skulls.

When I was 13 I was working an assembly line, then drill press and lathe. 8 hrs a day in the summer, and 3 hrs a day after school for 25 cents an hour, and still maintained a B+ average in school. Later in life, while I was a manager at a retail store, I had a mother call me and bitch that her son had to work the friday and saturday after thanksgiving. I told her that I was also working those same days, and so was everyone else in the store. She said I was a slave driver because he was only a high school student. She then informed me her son was quitting. 90% of the "employee's" parents wanted special treatment and schedules for their kids, How can we expect any kind of work ethic from kids raised by that kind of an attitude.

Its very simple really.
Do the right thing by working hard for you and your family and get absolutely nothing in return except perhaps a higher tax rate.

But do the wrong thing like not working even though you can / should and don't contribute to society but be a burden, and you'll receive unemployment benefits, rental assistance, health care concessions, and a range of other advantages.
Break the law and get free accommodation in her Majesty's Hotel where you get free meals and lodging with more rights than the recipients of your crimes.

And just for added spice, the do gooders protect the rights of these dead beats rather than treating them as they deserve to be treated.
Make all jails hell holes, and give all that can work and will not sweet FA.

We need migrant workers to be able to legally cross the border to farm our sugar beets (or whatever) each year, then go back after the season is over. We need a process for this that keeps the criminal element out. I'm not anti-immigrant at all... let's create a system that works. Let the workers cross legally at the border crossings, even provide them transportation to Nebraska (or wherever their work is) and back. But the criminals... hangings, firing squads, ship them to Iraq??? maybe... don't release them into our population, or even right across the border.
