Thanks Trailboss.

What you see is directly due to your (and Hubs) advise.
When I saw this pic I was surprised to see a better looking body position and also if the bike was leaned (which of course in the pic it is not) my knee would not be that far away at all!
I will try to get a pic at lean to see how close my knee actually is.
But it doesn't really bother me anymore.
I can see quite an improvement and I do believe with time a knee touchdown will probably take care of itself.

Thanks again.

P.S.
Jeez wouldn't it be nice to get even close to you and the level shown in your attached pics...

To me, Hailwood Toes/KenKnee/SquatSchwantz/ElbowSpies/ElbowKneezMeKez/?Backit'inn/______ Fill in the blank.

You need to get on the slipper and find the next new way to hook the hinge. Hooked on the hinge are we?

While track days and the different riding schools are very helpful, putting new riders, or old riders with old skills on XR100's with street tires on a dirt track has yielded fantastic results at a quick rate. Once you get your knee down on a XR100 while sliding both the front and the rear on a regular basis, doing it on a ZX becomes a breeze, even with OEM controls. Though to be fair, I rarely ride the ZX that aggressive and save that for my track bikes.

There are several schools that utilize the XR100's, Cornerspin comes to mind. That, or picking up a used beater XR100 and slowly keep pushing it until you have it down... I still ride mine whenever I feel I'm getting rusty, or just for the fun of it. Once in a while I'll bring some young squids to the ranch and let them loose on the little bikes. Something about being passed by an old fart gets their attention. I was lucky enough to spend 2 days at Kenny Roberts place some 30 yrs ago where I was introduced to riding the XR's. Went home and made own dirt track to emulate Kenny's. Obviously, Robert's revolutionized road racing and it was because of his ability on the dirt which made it so... Gives you a lot of confidence when you can spin the rear, and sometimes the front and not freak out..

Getting the knee down isn't the goal, it's the result when everything comes together...

Bingo!

And looking good, Yannih. I can see your head and shoulders getting lower. Now get your ass back to the track with your leathers for a safer place to get that knee on the deck.

Unless, of course, you want to leave a bloody smear to commemorate your first time!

Lookin at those pics, everything looks good yannih, but I would literally push that chin further over the shoulder, slightly more look ahead, and the head position with chin over inside shoulder will translate to higher corner speed, necessatating that deeper lean. Like, head up and over just a little more. Head leads the way. Just my 2c!

I'm getting close.
I can feel it.
Funny thing for someone who has never dragged a knee, is its kind of scary starting to get lower and being that close to the road wizzing past.

Ha ha.
Just found this pic from the old days when I was starting out years ago on a 98 VFR800.
Interesting comparison to today!
It's obviously the XZ-14 that makes the difference!

Speaking of knees, here's a pic of my brother at Eastern Creek.
He smashes me on a race track...

G'day Aussie,

There's a few guys that get down there.
Half light is only one.
Some you pay for.
Some are free.
I've tried to give money to the free guys and they won't take it.

They all do a great job regardless and simply love photography and motorbikes.

I'm a photographer myself so certainly wouldn't mind paying. I started out photographing bikes and it's what got me really interested in getting my licence. Look forward to heading out there soon. Wouldn't mind getting some actions shots of myself.
