Hyperpro damper on ABS model
10/21/14 4:20 PM

Was looking on Motomummy's website since it seems they have the best price. Their description says it doesn't work on ABS model. Does anyone already have one mounted on an aBS version? Whether you have one on an ABS version or not could you snap a picture of how it mounts up around the steering head?

Thanks

On the Gen1 you see the silver socket head allen screw at the bottom? There is another right below it. These hold a silver plate onto the black bracket of the damper. The plateat is fastened to the side of the steering neck of the frame (where the clutch line retainer is on the left). The same setup on the other side where there is a blank screw (there for no apparent reason) in the steering neck. The black bracket also fastens to the front screw of the fuel tank cover. You see that screw right below the black shock cord stretched across the fuel tank cover.

I heard that the Hyper pro did not clear the tank fairing on the Gen2. They will come up with a bracket sooner or later, I'm sure. You might be able to shim it somehow to make it work.

My damper is off right now. PM me if you want pics of it.

Yes...It DOES fit the ABS model.I have one...fitment was just fine.If anything...you 'may' have to slightly move the brake line(s) a shade to the outside...not remove or anything...to get that black bracket that connects to the 'screws on the frame at the steering head"but it wasn't any problem...in fact,I can't remember if I had to or not...If It WAS a big thing...I would remember it;)It fits. And nothing contacts the tank cover...so no worries.

No issues fitting it to my '13 ABS 14R- I didn't have to touch the lines:

One last question. Does the left mounting bracket get in the way of raising the fork tubes through the clamps? Dropped the front of my 2012 about 1.5" and want to do the same with this one.

Nope...mine are dropped about an inch...damper fits fine.Tubes have nothing to do with the triple clamps or bar mounts.

Thanks. I know it doesn't mount to the tubes but (must be an optical illusion) every posted picture makes it looks like the bracket will get in the way of the tubes being raised past the left bracket without doing some dremel modification.

It's close but clears- look at the red adjusters in the pic I posted- they're the same diameter as the tubes, and the one on the bracket side has a couple millimeters of space. The angle of the pic makes it look like the bracket is in the way, but it's not an issue.

I'm getting one of these even though I believe this chassis doesn't need it.

I just like it.

Grn14 I've got a question for you since I just got mine. I remember you saying something about the brake lines causing the tank fairing to not line up right. Was any of this caused by the hyperpro install?
