New Ride
06/28/16 10:45 PM

Hey Everybody.

Picked up a new '16 SE. It was exactly what I was looking for after a year in the sandbox. The first dealer I looked at, gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. $11,300 before T/T/L. Big thumbs up to MetroEastMotorsports in O Fallon, IL.

The bike has been a dream to ride. Exceeding my expectations.

I've put on 1,200 miles. Mix of all types of riding, but my backgroud is tearing up twisty country roads. Full power/KTRC 1/Hard break in on engine.

Only complaint is the rear brake squeeks about 50% of the time. Hot or cold.

I've put on some thick foam grips over the stock grips. Reduces vibes and reminds me to be loose on the bars.

About to order the MRA Race windscreen. I get a lot of buffeting above highway speeds.

I don't plan on too many bike mods, but love hearing about what can be done with this bike. Maybe some hard bags painted to match...

Grats and welcome. Fortunately doesn't need many mods at least IMO.

+1 to "Fortunately doesn't need many mods" Performance wise ZX14R provides more than sufficient for day to day street use. I have installed 1" handlebar riser and adjustable foot pegs along with a rear rack. Oh, and of course a set of slip ons. Other than those, I don't need any other mods. Of course that is just me. My use is day to day commute, weekend winding roads and occasional 500 miles a day trip.

Hey Tigerpaw.....exact same bike I have. Yeah I gotta agree it is an absolute dream to ride this thing. I get all sorts of compliments all the time. Only 600Km's on it now. Loved my Bandit for 17 years. This is a different animal!!
