I believe the software I use might be responsible for the clarity of my films. It's iMovie. Mac has traditionally been the imaging computer

Macs are great for movie editing and I also use IMovie, I just haven't messed with it yet!

To me looks like the Hero and the Hero 2 are not worlds apart in functions. Also, the film quality has been improved a greta deal but AFAIC, I couldn't ask for much better than what I have

I feel the same way. I went to Amazon and found a very good deal on a GoPro HD Hero. My camera, plus all the accessories I purchased afterwards are still a lot cheaper than a Hero 2. I don't expect perfect professional videos from my recordings, but if I can get good decent footage of my adventures, then I'll be a happy camper.

Just in case anyone is interested, and for future reference, I found a well written blog post explaining how to setup a GoPro Hero or Hero2 for (LIVE REMOTE BROADCASTS).

And sometime this week I should be getting my new LCD BacPac. Just in time for the NorthEast Nitro Nationals in Atco, NJ this coming weekend!

The Go Pro HD 2 seems to be good in low light, provided you're filming downtown. I like the ninja sign on the cover duct. The dashboard matches the light of the city-pretty cool. Thanks for the info kofla, I read somewhere else that r2 is the best setting for motorcycle stuff. The other setting are for heavy editing and slow motion effect. Also, it is better to angle the camera down a little bit so it can expose properly. If you got a substantial amount of sky in your vid, everything below is probably going to be washed out.

I stand corrected on the remote for the GoPro...it's WiFi...which I said...but...it's a full functional remote...manually activated with a switch on the wristband.Sounds pretty good to me.Gotta have the wifi backpac.

I can't seem to embed!!!!! I did it once a while back but I'm clueless now. This is actually the vid I watched later, must have gotten them mixed up when I was trying to embed. Here's the one I was referring to:

ZX 14 R GO PRO HD 2 NIGHT

I tried r 1 yesterday and it was better than the vid I have posted so far, I'm going to try r2 as well and will post some vids. Good thing with those modes: the vids load faster.

By the way, i turned the bacpack off but the battery was drained in 30 min!!!! So you have to disconnect it: POOR DESIGN.

go to SHARE at you tube. select EMBED. grab the code paste back here between these tags
[ outube] embed code [/ outube]

cut out all code in front of http and everything after US

embedding is not enabled for your vid. That is amazing night time footage. the Hero sucked at night. 7 minutes of normal city riding is way too long for me though. hope he didn't do anything cool cuz I sure as hell am not going to sit and wait.

WoHoo!Should be a blast Kofla...get some good vids!

Grn14, I received the LCD BacPac yesterday, it is going to be a fun weekend! :-) I also saw the GoPro Remote Control HERE.

The Go Pro HD 2 seems to be good in low light. I tried r 1 yesterday and it was better than the vid I have posted so far, I'm going to try r2 as well and will post some vids. Good thing with those modes: the vids load faster.

I don't think I'll be filming at night, at least not yet. I will be using mostly r2 and r4 on my recordings. I also plan to be around the pit area during races, and from what I've read, r5 is the best setting for recording in that area.

7 minutes of normal city riding is way too long for me though. hope he didn't do anything cool cuz I sure as hell am not going to sit and wait.

Rook, most of the videos I make I try to keep them under the 5 minutes time limit. Not easy when I have a lot of footage. Personally I prefer to watch short video clips.

By the way, i turned the bacpack off but the battery was drained in 30 min!!!! So you have to disconnect it: POOR DESIGN.

dragking, I just received my LCD BacPac yesterday, and I noticed that when the camera is turned on the LCD BacPac also automatically turns on. I read your comment last night and decided to leave the LCD BacPac plugged into my GoPro overnight. I made sure to turn off my LCD BackPac first before turning off my GoPro. I checked this morning and my battery is still fully charged. I hope I don't have to disconnect my LCD BacPac everytime I use it.

This Saturday I plan to attend the NorthEast Nitro Nationals at Atco Raceway in New Jersey. On Sunday, Keith Code and his California Superbike School will be at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ. I need to find out if they allow expectators at his event.

This will be a busy weekend for my GoPro, a two-day video recording hands-on lessons. GoPro Hero or Bust! lol

I leave mine on all the time. It doesn't seem to effect the battery as long as the cam is turned off. I have my LCD set to auto shutoff in 30 seconds, though--maybe you have yours set to manual shutoff only, dragking.

I try to keep them under the 5 minutes time limit.
I edit mine and I still have a heck of a time to keep them under 7 minutes. LOL As time goes on, I get the idea of how quickly we we see video and still get the idea. IMO, it requires over 2 seconds to show a still or the viewer won't grasp the image. Motion, you can easily show less than a second for almost anything and it makes perfect sense.

I checked this morning and my battery is still fully charged. I hope I don't have to disconnect my LCD BacPac everytime I use it.

That's the thing when it's turn off and you're recording it still sucks life out of the battery like a vampire. So you probably have to take it off when you're recording, meaning you have to check the front of the camera for recording, battery life, etc. It's not much of a hustle, but the fact that I have to get to where I wanna film, install the backpac just to check my settings and the quality, then remove it so I can close the camera only casing blablabla is too much work. Leaving it attached while filming makes more sense. I was slabing it the other day so I can get to the twisties and the camera died just when I was getting my carving on, even if I had an extra battery I was never going to check it cause I thought I had more than 21 minutes!!!!

One more thing is that, you battery may show "full" but die in 30 min! If they had incorporated the backpac, I'm sure it would take less energy to run! Keep me post on how long you're able to use your camera with the backpac off but attached!

Excellent idea, I will be setting up mine the same way too.

That sucks, but I am not sure I'll be riding for 30 minutes of uninterrupted continuous recording. I think I mentioned earlier that I also purchased two extra set of batteries from Amazon.com just in case. I will be posting my findings regardless.

All I can say here...is I've run up to three hours with my GoPro 'on'....no LCD...nope...but 'on',ready to start filming again. It hasn't gone completely dead yet...but I have the 'second' battery bacpack also on there. When I get home from a days filming...BOTH batteries are in need of full charge...even though they still have more to go.How much?IDK....enough to keep filming however.I use the two battery deal with mine for that very reason. That LCD is a cool little 'gadget'...but once your camera is set up....you shouldn't really need to have an LCD showing you what your filming looks like....that's just MY opinion. It's 'probably' gonna look different in the actual video anyway.....and that LCD will suck that battery down pretty quick. You can get the second battery backpac...and film boo koo time....twice as long. All the settings for filming whether in HD or whatever...the field of view is STILL wide enough to cover anything you might want to capture right there around you.I never even use the LCD...wasted my money for that little deal.Sa'll good.

I have just got the Contour+, it has bluetooth som you can use your android phone as a veiwfinder and you can change the camera settings on it. It also has GPS so you can veiw your trip on a map and your getting your speed an altitude, thoug you have to use Contour software to see the GPS data, but its just to use a screen recorder software.

I have a short clip that i made on windows moviemaker, but the laptop that i used is sloooow so its compres alot!
Only setting i did on the cam was to set it in "over clouded" mode. Have to experiment with the settings an posistion.

Grn, at Atco Raceway today in about 4 hours I recorded 29 mini video clips and the battery still held a good charge. I had setup my LCD BacPac like Rook suggested, to turn itself off in 30 seconds. So far so good.

Today's video has the best quality of all my recordings, it was a great day for riding. I used the default resolution (r4). I have so much footage I doubt I can keep the video under 5 minutes, even after trimming and editing.

Tom, thank you for sharing your video, it looks great! I love your first song so much I might use it in the future, lol Those are great features that people can use with the Contour camera. For editing I use CyberLink PowerDirector.

I am also adding your video here.

Thanx Oliver, im not sure what im doing wrong since i cant get the youtube link to show.
It only gave me a big white spot under my text, run the mouse arrow over the spot but ther was nothing ther.

Feel fre to use the Clutch song, i can also recomend the regulator, and maybe you may like Volbeat with sad mans toung.

I used Windos movie maker, but i am thinking of buying Powerdirector 10, have the trail version now but that s... whouldent play MOV files on the trail version. But it lokks sweet and is alot faster then the movie maker.
Im am on a slow ars laptop for a few days, so editing on the movie maker is a pain in teh butt as the clips are lagy as hell.

Hopefully il get to play with my Contour+ settings and my own laptop so i can make som more exiting clips, i can see if i can put in the GPS map the i get in the Contour software. Hers part 2 of the clip, have a felling your not gona like the music as much as in the first ;)

Thanx Oliver, im not sure what im doing wrong since i cant get the youtube link to show.

Tom, if you look at your video code, insert a checkmark to ("old embed code") in your YouTube videos to get this code:

<InvalidTag width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7Jp3K4B0cx4?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><InvalidTag src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7Jp3K4B0cx4?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Separate this line, ( http://www.youtube.com/v/VkqeUw9EGzE?version=3&hl=en_US ) and ADD the [utube] code at the beginning of the sentence, and the closing code [/tube] at the end. That should allow you to embed videos on this forum.
