Certainly not something you could 'slip into your pocket' as he's getting ready to exit his vehicle now...is it?Something like that would be just too distracting for me.I would want something small...and simple.Basic radar...that's all(with Lazer and such as well).Even something small that you could easily slip off the mount and conceal under the ducting or something....if you needed to.

It always cracks me up when people say radar detectors don't work, or are useless. Around here the lazy cops drive around with the radar units in their cars on all the time and the Escort has saved more times than I can count. There have been many times where I was on a back road in the middle of nowhere, doing 10 over (or more) and get a hit. I slow down to the posted limit, and then the po po appears from the other direction. Without the RD, I would potentially have a ticket since they love to give out tickets in this state

Laser isn't an issue for me, they only use that on the freeways and I very rarely ride the slab.

They beauty of where I have mine mounted is that it is out of the weather, and in the remote chance that I get pulled over, I can throw my gloves over it and they never know that it is there.

Escort 9500 with H.A.R.D. device.

YMMV

I keep mine in the tank bag and use a Marc Parnes LED display mounted directly above the ignition switch.
Stealth if pulled, but fortunately havnt had that experience yet.
Radar detection works fine, laser it obviously wont, but if you're hit with laser there's no time to react anyway.
Has saved me a ticket quite a few times- even with instant on I've gotten readings off traffic well ahead of me.
Just try not to blitz hard on open freeways with no traffic in front, save it for the backroads...

You hit the nail on the head there ncmech. Keep someone in front of you as much as possible. I like to play with car drivers, which encourages them to 'race' me. I let them stay up front... they think they're 'winning', but I'm just using them as a radar shield. They get popped, my detector goes off, and I slow down before the radar gets me.

LOL I do the Same thing!!!

My Detectors has saved me more times than I can count! Before 1998 I flew everywhere with no fear of getting caught it wasnt until my encounter with a Highway Cop in 98 who was trying out his brand new shiny Laser gun that I slowed it down a bit after that. He looked in the windsheild of my Z28 and said and i quote (Nice Radar Detector Didnt Help You Much) and then giggled! 90 IN A 45 coming off a bridge but i tossed a few names at him and some PBA cards and after a 30 minute ball breaking session let me go with a warning!

That's obviously because you pissed them off by not getting a real speeding ticket.

Cop must have been a real A hole to give you a ticket for 5 MPH over speed limit, what a d-bag ...

In reality, I was going 75. He thanked me for stopping and wrote it for 60. We were out in the country, and he was alone. If I'd have ran, he'd have never have found me.

Just to let you know I build a mount for my detector, I like it 90%, I going to make a new one that sets it up higher. I have owned a zx14 since they came out, I am now on my third zx14. lost all my account info when I moved, new email. so I had to start a new account. I have several photo showing the design. I can send them to anyone who wants them. Can most likely do a cad drawing or something similar. just pm me. I live a bleed speed. I can say one thing, mine has saved be over 2 dozen tickets. I use a mp3 player and a splitter. the audio for the detector comes through the ear buds. with a 14 you can be 10 over with just a sneeze. I had it go off, let off check the speed and was usually over. When traveling it sings when something is up ahead and works pretty darn good in the curves.
Over 45k miles. No ticket. I have been traveling at for sure at a 90 day+ jail time speed and had it go off. Let off, cruise by the man on the side, not even a look in my direction. Do they work???? I do not know. But, cant hurt. At the worst, get you to slow down and maybe reduce the size.

Sorry. did not quite figure out the upload image the first time.
My first attempted was the shield mount. it vibrated/shook too much, so I built this one. $15 at lowes, and enough material to make at least two. it can also double as a place to mount a gps with a little imagination.
Sorry about the typos on the other. My next mount will be near the top. I have the 8500, it works great.
Some states, they are illegal. some officers have radar detectors, detectors, of course you can get a detector, detector that puts yours to sleep, and then they have been able to trump that. they can search your bike (tank bag) if they suspect. but they cannot search your person unless they arrest you. so as your stopping pop it off, held on by Velcro, slip it in your jacket.

Looks good Doug. I had mine mounted low like yours at first and had to move it further up do to it blocking my gauges. I like your design, do you think that would work with a stock screen? Mine is to bulky and requires a double bubble screen, I prefer the stock screen.
